Did they change the model to in-app purchases?

Good point. Maybe not a bargain after all, if you have to do in-app purchases to get the program useful.

      • +1

Unlikely., unless they waited a few years to capitalise. However, they might have upped the iap costs.

I bought it yesterday when it came up on appshopper, quite an amazingly detailed human model except for one slightly odd and perhaps Americanised issue, they seem to have decided that the male foreskin is no longer a valid part of the human anatomy as it's completely missing from the skin model layer.

Imagine if one of those cultures that practices female circumcision decided to make a human anatomy app but left out those "useless" bits of the female anatomy that they tend to cut off.

The app loses a little credibility in my eyes due to this.

Something else weird happened on my iphone 5 when I attempted to view one of the app's media animations (namely carpal tunnel syndrome). Suddenly I had a new icon in the top of my phone which indicates call forwarding was turned on. Very strange, I had to go into Call forwarding in my settings and disable it. Not sure if directly related to me doing that action in the app or just coincidence, but I certainly didn't activate call forwarding myself.

    • Yes imagine.

There would be a huge kneejerk reaction about how barbaric the practice of female circumcision is and almost no men at all complaining about being circumcised. In fact many young men would be having long, protracted discussions where they adamantly insist it's better than not being circumcised. Oh wait that already happens :D

Yeah, my comment wasn't in regards to being for or against either male or female circumcision, but more related to human anatomy in general. If you are going to make an app about anatomy, changes to the body due to cultural influences should not be part of it.

      • Interestingly I also purchased the competing app to this one, "Essential Anatomy 5" and they do include a fully intact male model. However their female model is literally about as realistic as a Barbie doll in the nether regions compared to Human Anatomy Atlas (I think they have only just recently added the female model so perhaps that will change).

Anyway, genitalia issues aside, both apps are incredible.
