Need Help with Choosing Clothes Dryer

first time buying a clothes dryer and will mostly use it when clothes are not completely dry after hanging.

I'm thinking of buying Fisher & Paykel 5kg Sensor Dryer
Model No. DE50F56E1 $459 as I found good reviews on it. This one is good?

Haven't heard of below brand but seems to be a better deal.

Electrolux 6kg Sensor Dryer Model No. EDV6051 $529

Electrolux 6kg Sensor Dryer Model No. EDS6051 special price $399

@goodguys

Any other suggestions?

  • Electrolux is actually a very reputable electrical appliance brand and I own an older model of the 6kg Electrolux dryer. Between EDV6051 and EDS6051, the $130 price difference seems to be for the Iron Aid function.

I've got no issues with my Electrolux other than the 6kg capacity can be a bit small especially when my clothes washer is 12kg. So try to match up your dryer's capacity with your washer's. Otherwise you would have to run the dryer twice or risk overloading the dryer and the clothes won't come out completely dry.

I use the dryer for rainy days so the clothes are fresh out from the washer and really wet when they go in the dryer. They come out nice and dry. Other dyers have a shoe drying rack and there has been times when I wished I had it in my Electrolux too.

  • I have the Fisher and Paykel sensor drier, have had three of them over the years. To my knowledge my original two are still working perfectly, I just decided to give them to friends when moving as it was cheaper to buy a new one than to have it shipped to another country.

They are awesome and I love them.

  • electrolux is a great brand. and would be older name and better than fisher paykel.
We have had one for years , slightly different to this (square buttons on ours not round). comes with another control cover so you can mount the dryer on the wall - buttons are then not upside down, that's how we have ours. size is fine for us (3 adults).

the iron aid is good because if you don't get the clothes out straight away it turns them around every few minutes so wrinkles dont form (well minimised wrinkles)

at the time, and maybe its still the case it was this or fisher paykel. we had one, lasted about 5 years and stopped - only made cool air not heat.

don't bother looking at even more expensive brands they are not worth it, choose the one you like out of the three (i would pick Electrolux 6kg Sensor Dryer Model No. EDV6051 )

  • We have just replaced our broken Fisher and Paykel dryer with the EDV6051 and are thus far (only a week) really happy with it. We decided on that model after considering the advice of Choice magazine as it related to us. We paid $599 for it from Appliances Online so I would say that $529 seems like a really good price.

  • Thanks guys for your input, I went to check out these washer in person and at good guys they recommended the Electrolux $399 deal as its new in the market. The sales person said the Parker one is bad because it vents behind the machine so you need to buy a hose so the wall doesn't mould overtime. I found the Electrolux better built than the Parker as the door on the Parker was very flimsy.

I went over to check out HN and JB they also recommend the Electrolux and both said same thing about Parker being poor built now. JB also recommended the Beko brand solid built better than Electrolux. Also a tag saying it's number choice in Europe.

I'm going to do some research in Beko and shop around more at different suburbs and see what they have to say.

    Thanks guys

  • I have the Electrolux for a year and will say it is a good dryer. I picked it after reading all these reviews but missed one thing…. :(

Mindful if you are going to use paper type softener in the dryer (that is what I used for the past 30 years). The lint filter is located on the lower right hand corner near the door, if you place the machine upright. I discovered, after I got the machine, the dried paper softener will cover the lint filter when the drying cycle finish. That may incur a problem. I didnt hang the machine, so ended up, I have to place the machine upside down on top of the washing machine to avoid the paper accidentally blocked the lint filter.

If I have known about this in the first place, I would have choosen another one that didnt use this internal lint filter. My old hoover was collecting the lint at the door, so I wasnt aware of that…. :(

    My 2 cents.
