  • Any thoughts on this vs Strava? I currently just use Strava and a Wahoo TICKR for recording my MTB (and occasional road) rides, would this be any better?

    • definitely better

    • +2

It's not an either/or. Garmin devices work with Strava perfectly and give additional level of data and much better functionality and accuracy.

      This is a great deal.

    • I actually use what you have, Wahoo TICKR and Speed/cadence combined with strava/cyclemeter, previously had a garmin 800 but sold it as uploading data manually was too time consuming, this should alleviate that.

As stated above, I think this would be a more accurate logger

      • Interesting you found it time consuming. It's just a matter of plugging the Garmin in to a PC running the Garmin software. Auto uploads to Garmin site which syncs directly with Strava. Takes all of 1min.

Alternatively you can skip the Garmin software and just use stravas upload function which works flawlessly with Garmin devices.

        • Just reading you describing the process makes me quiver :)

      • How did you charge your device ?
I just plug my 500 in to charge & upload. Easy.
Use both Garmin Connect & Strava.
Have a Wahoo TICKR & use that also.
Pushys seem to have some good deals atm. Just bought another helmet.

    • I use this with Strava BT Sync, I like this over SmartPhone Strava as this is a dedicated device for bike and it doesn't drain my phone battery. And the battery on these are pretty good, it lasts for a very long time (more the 2wks for me). Also in this kit you get heartrate, cadence and speed sensors. Garmin's own dashboard is very good but if you use Strava you can upload all your data and view it from Strava dashboard as well.

  • Anybody else struggle to add product to cart? Just doesn't respond

  • Did the price just go up? I'm seeing $329 on pushys. Can't add the code to verify without creating an account.

    • yep, just went up. Price updated in my cart while I was going through the checkout process. dogs

It's only an extra $27, but decided not to buy on principle. I suspect there'll be more Garmin deals in the near future.

  • Yeah price just went up to $329. Hate it when stores do this.

  • Was going to pull the trigger but also decided not to buy on principle. Oh well, I guess it has saved my $270 on something that I don't really need right now anyway.

    • Ditto. Im kinda glad. Still need to explain the new camera that turning up any day now.

  • apparently out of stock now. what a rort.. i had $269..then went up to $
