To claim the Jetstar Price Beat: "Simply start an online chat with one of our customer service team". What's the bet Jetstar customer service have a team meeting at 8am this Friday and leave one person on the chat line.

    • lol.

      • Mate, you're a LEGEND!

    • +1

      how did u know that??

      • Hey, thanks for the tip earlier re $10 start date ccwwayne. Appreciate it :)

    • +2

Pricebeating with online chat takes ages. By the time you get through the $10 fares would be gone. Plus, it's a dollar. Thats some extreme penny pinching.

      • +3

I think it's more about the savings on the booking/service fees rather than the $1 in this instance.

      • +33

it's a dollar. Thats some extreme penny pinching.

We don't like hearing that around here mate

      • +2

If it means I can fly JQ over TT, I'm willing to save that $1.

        • Yep great point.. not so much the amount just the airline preference… have flown tiger before shortly after that Airways show was on and was worried we were going to be one of those ppl that wears half your suitcase to get under the weight limit!!

  • +3

Almost impossible to price beat from Adelaide, Jetstar are very clever. You need to be within 1 hour of the Tiger fare, but Jetstar have been smarty pants and made sure all their flights departing Adelaide & Melbourne are just outside of a hour of each when departing. Annoying, but I guess they are a business and have to make money as well.

    • +4

You could say that.. but you could also say them not timing it to be within an hour is potentially to their detriment too, because ultimately if they leave a seat unsold/empty (which could have been a price beaten seat), that's an opportunity cost for them. They would be better off having sold it price beaten, otherwise we just fly with a competitor (Tiger).

The price beat "feature" is not "feature of goodwill". It's still there for them to make money.

      • yep it's a sunk cost for jetstar since they are flying that plane anyway, as long as they can cover the extra fuel cost by carrying that extra person, which will be negligible in the scheme of things.

In reality, I havent used much price match since aus business always make it a waste of time to jump threw the hops and you are still likely to get nothing

  • Great Deal. I wonder how this will affect sales? Will people hold off until Friday (when Tiger's site is going to melt down) or will they get in early & book today & tomorrow?

    • +1

You're reading the deal wrong, prices dont drop $10 per day, there's totally different routes at each price point.

So whats for sale at $30 isn't on sale for $20 or $10

  • -3

Can't find any of the Sydney>Melbourne sale fares :(

    • +2

You do realise the $20 fares start tomorrow as per title?

      • +2

Whoops, sorry, didn't read post properly. My bad. Thanks OP will check tomorrow.

  • Nice find op. Going to fly out to QLD for some sweet DH deals. :) /s

I just jumped on Jetstar chat and booked BNE to Melbourne return, $54 per person return is definitely cheap enough not to worry about waiting and risking missing out.

Price beat tip, you have to pay by credit (debit) card, but they don't charge a booking or service fee through price beat.

    • The flights with this sale aren't out yet so how did you do the price beat?

      • +2

        MEL-BNE & BNE-MEL went on sale today for $30.

        • Looks like SYD - MEL is sold out then :( cant price match then?

EDIT: NM Im an idiot, wrong route

        • @Hellman109:
          MEL-SYD & SYD-MEL goes on sale tomorrow for $20.

        • +1

ya just saw that, Im an idiot, all good

    • @stevem42: On your tip, they don't actually charge a service/booking fee on any credit cards. Or they didn't the last time I booked a price beat in December.

      • Yeah, that's what I meant. I just mean compared to booking online where they charge the $8.50 or whatever it is. I've never done price beat before

    10 ONE WAY
    10 ANOTHER WAY

    SO $20 RETURN ON MELB-ADELA?

    • I think you answered your own question

  • Just booked a trip to the whitsundays, thanks OP.

  • Cheers, got a nice cheap fair on a public holiday :) thanks!

    • Did you read the description? 11:59am

  • Awesome, just price match with Jetstar. Thanks OP

  • Will there be $10 flights on Friday from Melbourne-Sydney and Sydney-Melbourne?

  • tue/wed/thur are the only days for travel?

    anyone got a sat/sun?

    • I think the weekend flights sold out pretty quickly.

  • Last time this was offered I got $10 flights from ADL to BNE but they cancelled with a week to go and offered me another day (2 days later) or a refund. They said it was not economically possible to fly on the day I wanted.

  • deal wishing they had for june tho :-(

  • +1

Gotta love living in perth…. :(

    • I'm just as annoyed at not being able to visit family there.

  • I'm clearly blind, but how in the heck do I book these?

  • I think we should all consider price beating with Jetstar (if possible) for everyone's benefit.

Tiger air seats will remain longer for the price beating.

    • If we all agree to do this, we'll still have discounted seats until tomorrow lol. That's actually going to benefit us all!

  • Hoh boy, 28min queue for Jetstar's Price Match Chat. Good luck chaps :P

  • $20 seats don't seem to be showing up

  • Site is down

  • i cant see any 20$ bne-syd flights… spam refresh clicking from 12..????

    • Seems to be only for mid week

  • I can see $20 but when processing it just keeps on loading

  • I can't even load the website - bloody hell!

  • +5

Pfff, shouldve known. The cheap deals are for midweek flying. Fri-sat-sun are are x2, x3 the price.

    • I was hoping for Sat-Mon SYD-MEL - ended up taking a one-way Thursday night. Hopefully OZB will throw up a sale fare between now and November for the return leg!

  • +4

SPPPAAARRTTTTAAA!!! Tonight we dine in Adelaide!!

  • estimated wait time on jetstar live chat: 76 minutes…

  • question, if the tiger air $20 seats fill up on a flight within the next hour that im waiting for - will jetstars helpdesk still honor it?

  • I got tickets to Brisbane and Adelaide :D

  • why do tiger charge $30 extra each flight for a baby under 2 yrs old? i thought they were supposed to fly for free?

  • Thanks OP, I booked Bris- adl, then Darwin - Bris, for $60, going to catch the Ghan up through the centre to connect the two flights. Excellent value. Thanks

  • Hmm it's hit 8am, but the prices haven't changed on Tiger Air's website. Am I doing somethign wrong?

edit: oops, went through wrong link

  • Not sure if all $10 tickets are already sold out or if the site isn't updating….

edit: WOW the tickets sold out fast and its only 8:08am LOOL

    • +1

      NOOOO I MISSED OUT D:

      • yeah i managed to grab 2 tickets syd - GC :DD Jetstar wont price match it but so i expect it my flight to be canceled

  • syd to GC all gone? can't find any…..

    • I think it's all sold out, but I can see that a lot of poeple are currently booking that route on Tigerair anyway Oo" Are they all just buying at full price?

  • $10 for an adult, but $30 for an infant?? I tried booking as another adult, but then it limits the range of the date of birth…

  • Managed to buy ADL-MELB retunr for 2 people in September for $74. Don't have Mastercard Debit.

    • Yeah that's annoying. I thought this practice would be illegal by now. I finally got to spend my mebank $50 credit. It's worth getting a Mastercard debit card loaded with $100 just for times like these (but remembering access details for a rarely used card is a bother).

  • +2

I just bought 2x $10 each way MELB-HOB for my bf and I.

    $74 total (including booking fees - $40 Flights + $34 Booking fees)

I could price match but I am happy with the flight times. Thanks OP for the heads up! Two very broke Uni students will actually get a holiday this year.

  • +1

Managed to buy OOL-SYD late oct/early nov :D paid with Mastercard Credit for $20.. Was going to try to pricebeat with Jetstar, but the wait was wayyy too long, and I already missed out on my ideal flight dates.

  • booking fees would be killer on this.. booked return for my mom adl-mel return for $20 not bad

    • weird.. was looking at another route and was like "1 seat left at this price" then when I did the search again "3 seats left at this price" same price and time/date

      • Maybe someone changed the dates while you were doing the search, as in, they clicked the dot but then clicked another dot in that time?

        • makes sense

  • Who sniped the ADL>MEL on the 29th of Oct?
Are you going pax? Meet up?? :D

Had to change mine to the 28th, the last few seats for the 29th sold out while I was mid checkout. :c

  • Can't find anywhere to live chat with JetStar?

  • Anyone managed to get a trip Sydney to Coffs Harbour return and swap dates? Mines first weekend of Sept. PM me if interested
