Racing Wheel For Xbone

Been playing Forza 5 / FH2 lately and thinking of grabbing a basic steering wheel set up. i know nothing about them but ive found a Thrustmaster 458 for $150 at Gamesmen which is about what im happy to spend. Any thoughts or advice from experience? Also is a stand necessary or can you just DIY a laptop stand/bedside table etc? Look forward to hearing from anyone who can be bothered , cheers

  • G27. Can be had for ~$200-250. I wouldn't put it on a laptop stand, or flimsy bedside table. If your rough, it won't stay there for long.

    • G27 doesnt work on XBox

    • Thanks for comment…l think u need adapter to get logitech to work on xbone? Would add like $100 or something plus hassle of setting up with a pc etc

    • I meant bolt it on to a portable type table ….yep could def see it flying across the room if not.

        read the bloody review

        jesus

next gen means bungee cord shit and no FFB, come on now

        • Ok, ill try to work with you…So i guess u mean it has a cord…im ok with that. No idea what bloody FFB means though…cheers champ!

          wtf

force feedback? never heard of it?

having the steering offer resistance using a bungee cord is some 1999 spec shit

and you want to use this on a next gen console

i would scarcely believe that anyone can sell a non FFB wheel in 2015

this is bullcrap, but yeah go buy it

        • @tonyjzx: thanks for explaining and for the comments..so is FFB like motor driven or what? Also, what would u recommend, keeping in mind i dont want to spend heaps of coin?thanks champ

          @pointless comment:

Ok basically tony sucks at common manners and using the english language.

FFB = Force feedback, the vibrations you get when you hit a wall for example.

Having a look though Amazon's choices doesn't seem to find any standouts unfortunately

Read the Amazon reviews for your wheel, it's a mixed bag, but should be ok at the price Dick Smith have it listed for (see comment below).

And from the reviews, I'd say the stand is needed

@tonyjzx: er if someone is here asking about wheels, perhaps they are doing so because they don't know much about what is available… surely anyone with half a brain would get that tonyjzx gg

I just saw the XB1 Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider at Dicksmith's ebay store for $134.97 (+$9.95 postage): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261751792312 (could try CPICKUP15 code for 15% off if you can click and collect).

I have no idea what this wheel is like though. And you don't have to buy a stand, just clamp it to a sturdy desk or coffee table etc.

Thanks a lot buddy. Just pulled the trigger on this thanks to you - for anyone else interested, pick up was not available but the 15% off code worked anyway. It twas only $10 postage so not too bad. $124 all up so good price unless its total "bullcrap" as tonjzx suggests it will be. Reviews on the whole seem above average so im expecting that ill be happy at this price point… If not im sure ill get $100 for it on gumtree after a few weeks use - jb hifi want $200 for it! Thanks for all the (constructive) comments

  • It's a shame Microsoft don't do their wireless one with pedals any more. I still have mine I bought second hand off e-bay and it's a fantastic unit.

When someone looks up this thread in the future, i found that this product from bunnings works well as a wheel stand. The roller pops out and you can clamp the wheel on the metal plate. I was not going to spend $200 on an official one - this was only $27 http://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-adjustable-work-suppor…
