TDK NC400 Noise Cancellation Headphones $37 on Clearance @ Officeworks

100

Saw these when I was at Officeworks last night. On clearance from $80 to $37. Same pair are still $80 at Dick Smith (http://www.dicksmith.com.au/earphones-headphones/tdk-noise-c…)

They get a decent write up here (http://www.c3magazine.com/tdk-nc-400/), getting 3.5/5 overall.

TDK Life on Record Noise Cancelling Headphones reduce unwanted ambient sound to give you a better & more relaxed listening experience. Essentially, active noise reduction works by using a microphone on the outside of the headphone to pick up external ambient noise. This is then sent to a digital processor which generates an antiphase wave with the opposite polarity of the sound wave coming through the microphone. As a result, the external ambient noise is reduced within the enclosed listening space. The NC400's deliver effective noise reduction in such environments as aircrafts, trains, cars, buses and other public places where excessive ambient noise is present. The active noise cancelling feature works with or without music playing through the headphones.

"There're supra-aural headphones, which means they sit ON your ear rather than enclosing them completely. Not ideal for comfort or noise isolation." but cheap.

    • There're supra-aural headphones,

You mean these are? Surely if you want noise-cancel, you also want noise-blocking. Supra-aural noise cancellation is just idiotic.
You'd be better off with a cheap pair of in-canal earphones, unless you find them too uncomfortable.

  • How do these compare to the other noise cancelling ones (MIG-NC102) OfficeWorks has for $29?

    • Mutant? Some good reviews on amazon.com

      • I've got a set of those Mutant noise cancels - definitely worth the price, was surprised at the quality for what really is entry level pricing

i brought a pair of these last night. they scanned at $49 at the checkout so just be aware of this

  • FYI, they are currently $32.88 on the DS link…

The mutant ones are total crap.

First pair I had snapped after 1 week. The replacements lasted a few months and snapped in exactly the same place.
Noise cancelling is pretty crap as is general sound quality.

    • Thanks for the warning. I usually assume Amazon reviews are honest.
