Samsonite Warehouse Sale (Suitcases from $35) - 24-28 June - Springvale, VIC

140

Same as previous occassions, the Samsonite Warehouse sale is on again. Hopefully you've snagged a cheap tablet, headphones and warm parka from recent deals to keep you entertained whilst you queue up with hundreds of other hopefuls.

Very happy with my hard rollercases that I bought from one of these previous sales. The zip broke on one of them - brought it to my local authorised Samsonite repairer and Samsonite gave me a new replacement bag. So the warranty does indeed work and is genuine!

    Location in title please.

  • "Upto 70% Off" is very deceiving pls…There would be hardly any item for 70% off..

    • +2

lol, you can say the same with pretty much every other shop that uses the "Up to" clause.

However, the savings at these events are extremely good. You wouldn't be disappointing going to one, if you arrive early.

      • I went to the last one on a few different days since I live in the area.

They do keep stock out back to restock on subsequent days and if you go on a later day it's a much more relaxed environment. No queues or anything, even to pay.

However you may miss out on more popular colors and possibly one or two sizes of a specific style but you'll still likely find something suitable.

        • I cannot be there until weekends,it is good to hear that! Thanks OP!

        • @tracysutton:

My memory is hazy but I'm think I went on the Wednesday afternoon, then back on the Friday morningish.

Was hoping they would restock the bright orange hard-case but they ran out so got another color instead.

Can't really vouch for weekends not being busy because I'm betting a lot of people are in the same boat of not being able to go until the weekend but unless you live hours away I'd still say it's worth taking a look.

    • Sorry but see below.

Factoring in waiting in line 1 hour, no choice of what suitcase you actually want, hassle, no Myer One Points this isn't much of a deal. Better off buying in a Myer sale.

    • Have you been?
I remember going 2 yrs ago, the prices were pretty good. It was pretty much minimum 50% cheaper than Myer when they do a sale.

Some of the soft cases are the ones they sell in Myer, which means not all of the suit cases are of a old range.

    • Went same time last year on the second day of sales. Plenty of stuff, hard cases/soft cases. No lining up or anything. No need to go in the morning, went there at 12pm. They stagger out the merchandise. It is literally 99% Asian buyers

      • Hardly surprising considering the location is Springvale.

Sorry but you're wrong. I recall paying about $160 or thereabouts for an Aerial 78cm spinner and the RRP at the time was about $600 - so about 75% off. Myers usually discount by 40%, and 50% if you're lucky.

There's a choice of hard case, soft case, sizes, often different colors. They also usually have heaps of small rollers which are also excellent value.

      • Myer has 40% off RRP quiet often in their sale events once every quarter.

Independent luggage stores sell them at a discount of 20-40% off RRP on regular basis.

The only brand that I have not seen a discount (off RRP) is Rominwa.

  • I am looking for Hardcases Firelite or Cosmolite range - those who had attended last year - have you seen any of this range?
    Thanks

    • Why would they clear these out, especially at 70% off. From what I've seen, Samsonite warehouse sales are where they offload their old heavy luggage that even the stores won't buy eg. 'ultralite from 2006, or ones the stores sent back. You might find some refurbished stuff if you're lucky.

    • Current ranges probably wouldn't be available, but similar models would be. To me it looks like they use the opportunity to offload last season's stock, or excess stock from current seasons. Practically, is there any substantial difference between last year and this year's model? I would say probably not.

      • Last year for the hard case they had the spin trunk which was, and still is a current model. $170 for large

  • I have bought luggage online from luggagedirect (QLD) and Bagworld (Perth) and found them competitively priced and good service. Worth having a look mainly if you are after a set of 3 ..have lots of options

  • thanks for sharing atlas

  • I have bought these before and I can vouch for their quality, style and the 'Upto 70%' discount. The entire range of bags, backpacks, wallets etc. will shock you. Expect long queues and lot of frustration but you will walk out happy in the end.

  • How does the American Tourister rate for quality? Is it inferior compared to the Samsonite and that's why the Samsonite's are the first out the door?

  • Are there any Cosmolite or firelite carry on cases there today?

  • Was passing by today and thought I would take a quick look, I did……I took a quick look at about 300 people in the line and adding on every minute while driving by at ~10:15am.

not as good value as last time:

    small hard: $110
    med hard: $160
    large hard: $190

queue was incredibly long. (almost reached the roundabout, whole block when we left at 11am) roughly 200m

    heaps of people cutting in.

    • what time did you get there?

    • Did you end up getting anything?
Were the hard cases the same models as in previous years (aerial spinner i think)?

      • +1

They had a variety of hard case models. Aerial, engenero, spinner, plus a couple others not on the Aussie website. No cosmolite or firelite

        • they had firelite and cosmolite when I was there at 10am

        • @OYC: Those must have been in limited supply as they weren't there when i was there at 2. Hilarious seeing people with 2-3 suitcases under their arms like they were giving them away

      • they had a number of models there. I counted 5 types of samsonite hard cases while I was there which they had in a number of colours in each of the 3 sizes. lots to choose from.

this time american tourister also had similar hard cases on sale but cheaper price range.

limit is 3 samsonites there is probably a lot more stock compared to last time to go around.

  • Yeh. Prices have gone up. Waited for 2+ hrs. Spent two minutes inside

  • who is that useless curry yum yum who was allegedly working as security officer?
some dumb ass parked right next to the entry door, blocking the driveway, and this lazy curry yum yum did nothing except scratching his curry ass.

    • So wrong but I did lol

      • oh..so you are that chinko.
        wait..it was a ghetto sale…chinks buyers..curry security

        • They were all chinko, including you! lolol

  • Aargh just missed this, been waiting for this. How do I get notified of this? Any list I can subscribe to?
