For those interested JB HIFI still has the EOS M for sale at $199 and it comes with the adaptor :D

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/cameras/dslr/canon/canon-eos-m-18m…

Even though it says body only I can confirm it ships with the EF adaptor, but I guess there could be a chance it doesn't so gamble away

      Sooooo tempted

      • I got one to convert to IR. It's an okay little camera, but I wouldn't want it to be my main body; it's awkward to hold/shoot with and the AF is slower than molasses. Or, I guess, Golden Syrup?

        • i heard it is slow hmmm, wanted to get something small as going on trips, carry is 7D is a bit big (for short trips)

        • @jjcf: All this talk about slow AF, its still accurate AF and quicker than a lot of point and shoots. Its not a wildlife or sports camera, think of it as your hiking or travel camera. There is also a thing called Manual Focus :p

        • @clarky:

This kind of cameras is the one of main reasons why Canon develops STM lenses. Faster, smoother, silent focus. Tried it with 40mm pancake, awesome, especially in video.

@djones145: Once you put a lens on, though, it's not that much smaller than an xxxD body (and a whole lot less capable).

I usually have an x100s in my pocket and a 6D or a Contax in a bag or on a strap, though, so take that with a grain of salt :)

        • @jjcf:
          hmmmm soooo tempted…
if only i wasn't married with a kid coming along :(

        • @djones145:

My main body is a 7D with the 15-85 canon lens.

I recently purchased the EOS-M and paired it up with the nifty fifty 50mm 1.8 prime and have been testing it the last couple of days, pretty impressive for the size - update the FW and install magic lantern.

Have yet to shoot at an event, looking forward to shooting with the 7D with the EOS-M in my bum bag as a portrait/prime shooter!

        • @jjcf: This camera with the 22mm f2.0 is much smaller then an xxxD IMO. With the adaptor and an EF lens, yes different story, but you have the choice at a much cheaper price

        • @highon2str: I have magic lantern installed also, its great! These cameras are great at cinematography

        • @stevarja: Currently have the 40mm pancake attached, agree :)

Just keep in mind for anyone looking that's the EOS-M and not the EOS-M3 that the deal in the OP (for the free extras in the original deal) - still a fantastic camera, I have one and love it to bits, just thought I'd put a warning out there in case anyone got confused!

(Would love to upgrade to a EOS-M3!)

I bought a cheap third-party lens adapter for my M and it worked fine. Focus speed sucks though with EF lenses and it's best to use the kit lenses. The f2 prime kit lens is fantastic to use and the zoom kit lens is pretty decent too. That being said I've since moved on to Sony A7 and am pretty happy with it. Full frame with old school fast primes is awesome.

    • hey mate, just got the m, which off market adapter did ya get mate?

      thanks

  • tempted to grab one and slap some m42 lenses on it

  • can confirm the EOS M from JB arrives with the EOS EF>EOSM Adaptor

    • yep

got the eos m from jbhifi too, awesome
which len you got for it mate?
usuaing the 50 f1.4 but thinking of getting the 24mm pancake

      • I already have a FF setup, so I can use any of my L glass, it'll just be front heavy. Got a M42>EF adaptor, have a Pentax Asahi 28mm 3.5 and a Helios 44/2 for my eos M

  • My EVF just arrived! I got an email from canon last night saying it dispatched.. so it takes about a week and a half from submitting a claim, with a scanned receipt, to getting it via Courier.
