Hi everybody,
The 2015 EOFY sales have started and I am on the market for a 55-60" TV (ideal size for my lounge room - would sit about 2.5m from TV). My initial budget was AUD800 but I am ready to go up to AUD1200 if you can convince me that the extra money is worth the investment.
What I want to do with the TV:
- watch a lot of movies/series (I can connect to PC via HDMI but would prefer a wireless setup if possible). I have quite a few old movies/series which are not in FHD resolution so good upscaling would be a key factor to get a good picture quality.
- watch a bit of sport (soccer mostly)
- play some console games but none that would require low input lag
The last time I bought a TV was about 5 years ago and would like this TV to last about the same (so might be good to go with the big TV brands?)
From what I have already read on OzBargain, I don't really need:
- the TV to be specially smart (my internet connection is relatively slow anyway and is not suitable for streaming). I can just plug a Roku or a Chromecast device if needed.
- UHD (not required for this size of panel)
- the curve
- 3D (tried on my 3D monitor but did not specially enjoy it - passive preferred over active 3D)
I tend to mostly use the TV when it's dark but during the day I have a lot of light coming into the lounge room so it would be great if the TV can minimize reflection.
The TV does not have to be brand new as I consider 2nd hand TVs as a potential option if it can help me to get a better model.
Please advise me on some models that would suit my description and where to look for deals:)
