  • any reviews on the TV? i cannot find anything about it.

Also are there any ALDI stores open in Adelaide by 27th June?

  • +1

I dont think, they are opening by 27th June in Adelaide

    It's not a "Smart TV"…
In fact it doesn't appear to have any networked features whatsoever. Not really a bargain for a non-3D non-Smart set these days.

      get a chromecast.

      • I already have WDTV live, do i need Chromecast?

        • +5

Yes, chromecasts (along with sims that give free Netflix) are legal ozbargain tender like eneloops.

        • +1

          @dasher86:

What is this free netflix thing?

And yes Chromecast is nothing like WDTV… I prefer Chromecast Over a smart TV

      • Way to miss the point.
OP had posted it as a smart tv in the title originally.

        • yes, i saw that. it was reported as it should have been.

    • +1

      Smart TVs never excited me.
I have a Sony TV with internet capability - surfing the web, watching Youtube (or other similar website) videos, but I rarely used them (just tried it once and did not like it).
I purchased a separate TV box that made my life complete.

      • would you recommend a chromecast would make a "dumb TV" as smart as a "Smart TV" ?
And you'd at least get a consistent operating system setup as well this way

        • +1

A dumb TV + TV box (Chromecast, Android box, Apple TV, etc) = Smarter TV than Smart TV

    • +2

      Title says Smart TV…

    • -2

Pretty sure $777 is actually quite a good price for a 58". Seems like anything above 50" you can expect to pay a lot more.

      • Not for non-smart non-3D brand X it's not.

  • The last TV they advertised a few weeks back I took home and immediately returned as it was shockingly bad even after playing with the settings. I hope this one is better

    • +1

      Maybe it's your eyes, Betty!

I rented the 50" Bauhn that was on sale 2 months ago.

I am going to presume the Bauhn range is all of similar quality, hence I'd describe this panel as "cheap and nasty".

Viewing angle is very narrow, and picture adjustment options are extremely lacklustre. Motion (such as sports) suffers from frequent blur/ghosting.

Worst case, if size and budget are your only criteria for selecting a tv then you can try it for 60 days and see if its adequate enough.

  • Uhmmm well art least the warranty is good with aldi.
Sorry seems just so so quality.

  • +1

I bought the 55" a few weeks back and it was shockingly bad. For a smart tv it was woefully slow and outdated and the media player failed to play most of the formats that would play on my Samsung.

  • not a good deal - have asked admin to delete

    • +1

Nobody has found a similar TV for this price so why not leave it up?
Also it's yet to be known what the quality is like, it could be a good TV.

      • How much is that TV normally?

  • +1

Yeah I would also like to know how long that battery lasts on the BT headphones, price is good though.

    • +1

once you try BT you dont want cables

      • I haven't found this. After trying a few BT headphones (admittedly 2+ years ago) I found sound quality was definitely not comparable to cabled headphones.

        • +1

tried parrot zik 2.0 or latest bose BT?
but yes if you are audiophile and want the best quality of audio, cable is the way. but if you commute on packed train and want comfy, get BT.
also maybe depends on the quality of BT set, i think.

      • Agreed, I bought some BT ear bud things but they don't really fit my ears so I'm looking for some over the head ones like this Bauhn thing. Would be nice if they would list it on their website.

      • +2

Will BT fry my brains like a mobile phone can? I think the jury is still out, but I'd like to know what people think about using wireless tech so close to their brains for potentially an hour or so at a time.

        • Headphones are receivers.
BT has a 10m range and is made for low power usage.
          That's for starters…

        • @McFly: Yeah… I know there are loads of studies on these. And you're right. These are just receivers. The ones I used had a microphone on it, so it was a receiver and transmitter. Plantronics Backbeat Go. Either way, these would mess up my aluminium foil hat.

  • +1

I've given up on Aldi's specials. You either lineup an hour before the store opens or forget about finding what you want. I missed out on a lot of otherwise good deals.

    • +1

Go just before close the night before, usually works for me.

  • Headphones any good (relative to price)? Need to get the wifey new headphones.

  • +1

The BT headphone comes with a 60 satisfaction guaranteed, so if the sound is bad then return it and get a full refund.

  • Did anyone buy this and if so how is it?

    • I bought this http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/261720003176?_trksid=p2056016.l4276… instead just because it comes with 5 years warrenty vs 1 year but 3 inch smaller and almost $140 cheaper.

      • I see it is 50 Hz, my LG at home is 200Hz, but not sure how to notice the differences in Hz in real life / watching experiences

        • Cant comment on TV as I haven't received it yet. For me I only use for FTA TV and occasional game by my son and watching movies once a week so it suits my need.
