  • $888 for those interested.

    Available March 27th

  • You might have overlooked the price?

    • +5

You might have overlooked F5 ;)

    • +1

      My bad.

  • +5

It's one "lucky" TV…perfect for asians :) (I'm allow to say this since I'm one!)

    • Consider Aussie can't even make TV (:-(

Do you know how long been Samsung made "lucky" TV before they can make a good one and they are all made in China anyway

      • +11

I believe homersyd was referring to the price $888 being lucky numbers for Asians, not TV manufacturers having good karma ;)

how does it compare to this? not much more expensive.

    • +1

But that is a plasma and this is a LED.

    • +1

even cheaper at bing lee - $949

  • Isn't it a bit thick for an led tv? or is that just me?

    • 280mm is the depth of the stand

    • +1

check out its thickness from the bottom.
      http://www.bauhn.com.au/getattachment/f7691481-031d-436b-92c…

the thickness makes it proportionally look like a 22" monitor, so if that's 58" it must be extremely thick.

      • Yeah going off that photo from the bottom… If the stand is 280mm deep then the TV itself would be about 100mm thick

        • -1

The picture on their website mentions its a massive 58" screen. Maybe they are talking about the massive thickness.

What are the boxed dimensions. Do you think this will fit in the back of my Suzuki Mighty Boy. I know it should support the weight if I am the only passenger. It's all downhill to home from my local also so the donk is more than capable.

    • +1

you might have to walk it mate

      • +12

Ok. So will it fit in an ALDI issue shopping trolley then?
About a 7 km walk to return the trolley to get my $1 back. Ill have to conduct a time and motion study to see whether it is worth the walk back to the store. Cheers

    • "Box size 144.8cm x 87.5cm x 24.5cm"
      Last statistic listed.

      • +3

Thanks. Missed that. Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer for my big screen tv. There is no way the mighty boy will carry this specific model. Time and motion study turned up negative as well.

          Tie a couple trolleys together

        • Buy those upright trolleys from OW and refund later

        • you're not not going to keep the box as family heirloom so take a roll of packing and tape the box to your roof/tray

        • +1

Best to keep the box for the 60 day return policy - just in case!

Not a neg on the bargain just a review on past Bauhn tvs.

I always get cheaper tvs. Was always under the impression that I didn't need the best. So as a result I have the 46inch Bauhn Aldi sold almost a year ago. I also have a dse 32 inch and a soniq 55inch.

Now the dse and soniq have never missed a beat. They work as they are supposed to. The soniq even released a firmware upgrade as part of its feedback from buyers.

The bauhn on the other hand I don't believe will ever work right. The hdmi has audio synch issues. It's so hard to watch a movie and slowly see the sound and vision slip further apart as the movie goes on. And forget play station on the bauhn even though play station is fine on the other two.

I've tried to get support and tried to wait to see if a new firmware will get released but I don't see that ever happening. Not a single firmware upgrade since its release.

I'm a big fan of aldi and like slot of stuff they sell, but don't think I'll ever get a tv from there again.

    • +3

You had 60 days to figure that out…

      • +2

Still relevant, wouldn't want to lug back a big ass tv

        • +3

          Especially in a mighty boy

        • pardon my ignorance, what is a mighty boy? :)

Many Aldi customers (not bam of course) have little experience or understanding of the technology. They do not realise their unit is faulty, as they often do not use the features. One manufacturer to Aldi (under Aldi's "Bauhn" trademark) followed my reviews on Whirlpool to know what was wrong with their products. Got a call to say thanks, as they sent my posts to China to improve quality. They said units were returned to Aldi, but never knew why. Offered me a product tester position, playing with pre-release units - but no thanks, I knew the quality already.

  • Look like LCD thickness.

  • What's the warranty for this?

    • +3

Usually 2 years on TVs. But, good luck with Aldi warranties.
Bauhn is the trademark of Aldi, made by different manufacturers. Quality of build & after sales service varies. 1 Bauhn TV died after 2 days - fun lugging it back. I am still waiting over 1 year for a warranty repair on another Bauhn product (many emails, online debate with the rep on Whirlpool, & phone calls). Aldi has to deal with warranty issues, but just say bring it back for a refund any time within the warranty period.

Compare that warranty with one from a name brand. LG not only replaced my $600 50" HD TV, but upgraded to a much better model 50" FHD. Problem was an annoying rattle, which took a couple of call outs to locate, but problem was more than adequately resolved with a couple of calls. Never expected a new TV - old one was about to go out of warranty.

This is 1 big boy to lug back & will cost many people a few dollars just to deal with a warranty issue. Too many warranty issues & patchy quality is why I no longer buy Aldi electronics.

  • That's one hell of a slab of TV for the money.

Adding to comments above, I've got a Bauhn 46". Its only watch a couple of hours a week and am far from discerning (even though I have a fair understanding of the technology). Its OK, but lack of firmware upgrades to address minor issues, lack of documentation and support, and especially the failure to pass thru audio from external sources is a complete pain, and means I'd think twice next time.

OTOH, imagine buying 4 of these and building a 2x2 matrix…..

Final comment, its amazing that these things have got so big that cost/convenience of transport from the retailer is becoming a significant factor in the purchase decision.

  • I've actually purchased 2 42' aldi baunh tvs and one 48' bauhn tv from ALDI in the past 2 years and i absolutely love them! They are amazing i hook them up to my laptop at home via HDMI cable and play games on it :)

    • Luck of the draw with Bauhn rebadged products as they often come from different manufacturers.

      • luck of the draw 3 times in a row, i also purchased two 42inch bauhn tvs on behalf of family friends when i originally bought my 2 42inches and the family friends love their cheap aldi tv too :)

i'm contemplating buying this 58inch for my new house now.. hm…………

        • With Bauhn products - DOA products in same batch as good ones.

        • +1

          that's shocking, lucky me :)

  • Do you guys think this IS a bargain ? Really.

    • +1

i was at JB Hifi with my partner last weekend and we saw a MASSIVE 60inch tv panasonic? for $3000.

i love Bauhn tv from aldi and i've purchased 5 already from Aldi and 3 for myself. I'd recommend it and you still have a 60day return policy to test and play with it and if it doesnt meet your standards get the family wagon and lug it back!

    • Bargain? Depends on the picture quality of the TV. I'm keen on getting one but would like to read at least one honest review first.
Still at this price it does give good news - it must help drive down the future prices of other branded 60" LED LCDs to ~$1000 soon.
Looking at the specs from the Bauhn website, does not give much info— I can't see power comsumption figures

  • +1

I don't know if its a bargain or not, I tend to lean to the side of not though. The thing with aldi you can always test it and if you aren't happy you get your money back.

  • -1

It's a lesson I learnt NOT to buy any electronics from ALDI - not worth the hassle ALDI gives if it happens to be faulty after few days.

  • Worth it even if just to try. No questions asked refund with them

I grabbed the 46" Bahn a few months ago. Tested it out for about 50 days, then decided I just wasn't happy with it (a lot of colour bleed, and overall bad quality picture).

They accepted the return no problems- when I told them why I was returning it, they said they weren't surprised…

  • -1

I strongly against buying any TV from Aldi. We got 2 at our office (mainly to entertain the patients in the waiting rooms) they are absolutely crap

  • For $22 more you can get a Samsung LED TV
    http://www.webprice.com.au/online-store/samsung-ua50es6200-f…

    • +2

      And 8" smaller too.

      • Must… Resist…

      • It's not the size but the way it's used that counts.

    • Yeah and it's 8" smaller, have to pay delivery, try harder

      • Given the size of this TV, many buyers will have to pay a delivery cost anyway.
Plus there is a world of difference in quality (build & probably picture etc) & after sales service.

  • +1

I bought 2 x tvs yesterday, one for myself and the other for my mate. When I connected the TV everything is fine except the audio which is quite muffled. Has anyone figured out how to get around this? I tried all the audio setting with out much luck.

I bought one the Bauhn 59 inch smart TV last week and I have to haul it back now as I cant access Iview or fango on it. I called the after sales number and was told that it does not support the format that they are transmitting. I also tried to access nine catch up tv and was informed on the screen that people outside the country cant access this programme. I live in this country. What is the point of selling Smart TV's that dont work in this country.
