Note: The 5 pack might be 60W cables according to the model number JBUC5PK60W, previous deals, and import data showing 3A

      Thanks. Edited post accordingly.

Thanks, these comments from your deal helped me last time :)

Also worth noting this from AsukaST's comment:

      The 5 pack is 60W, 3 pack is 100W USB2.0, and 2 pack is 100W USB 3.2.
Original price was $20, It was $10 last week and $8 now.

  • I got 3 x usb4 40Gbps 240w braided cables for less than $2 delivered using my aliexpress coins.

Definetly cheaper and better alternatives out there.
They all come from china end of the day 👍

    • Link?

I doubt that they’re genuine but I would love it if they were.

        Essanger .. great quality.

Everyones AE coin account is different in what gets offered at high discounts but when it offered it to me, it was 95% off with coins.

Ive bought powerbanks, cables, chargers, watches with at least 85% off.

        • How do you even use coins? Mine only ever says %1 discount

    • +2

      The comparison isn't quite relevant.

      • coins are post-spending discounts
      • Ali express and probably unbranded vs branded local stock
      • aliexpress cables often aren't really capable of their wattage (my 100w cable can't do 100w)
      • -1

I buy the branded ones with thousands of reviews. Essanger, toocki, voltme and baseus is what i usually buy at high discounts.

Coins you can claim about $3 per day by doing the daily checkin and tasks.

Ali express and probably unbranded vs branded local stock

J Burrows is rubbish quality compared to the above brands.

aliexpress cables often aren't really capable of their wattage (my 100w cable can't do 100w)

Not true. My 100w do 100w, have been unable to test the 240w at full wattage but they do 100w too. If they dont, send proof photo to AE CS and thet refund without needing to return

Please share the link to usb4 40Gbps 240w braided cables?

@Think: I just found this on AliExpress:
            AU$10.92 | UGOURD USB C Thunderbolt 4 40Gbps USB4 Cable USB Type C to C 240W Fast charging Cable Thunderbolt3

            https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008248066515.html

But it has to filter on your coin page and not guaranteed to get the >85% -95% discount

            • @easternculture: Thanks. I will check it out.

              • +1

@Think: Click on bundled deals (AliExpress home page then Bundled deals), you can normally get one for ~$3 (sometimes even cheaper). You do need to buy some other items though. Those USB4 cables are generally okay for USB 3.2 gen 2 usage. Unclear about how reliable (i.e. how long they will last). The connectors can be bulky. The emarking on some of those USB4 cables can be a bit iffy. These J.Burrows ones have bulky connects for USB-C that's USB2 and 60W.

                • @netsurfer: Thanks. I doubt the bulky connectors will fit the USB opening of my phone case.

                  • +1

@Think: The el cheapo USB4 cable I bought from AliExpress, the connector only just fit my phone cable, but that means I do need to apply a bit more force.

Also, those el cheapo USB4 cables on AliExpress only have little margin for error when running in USB4 mode. Most won't work in Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 mode once you put a little extender adaptor in front of the cable. The better quality ones don't have the same issue.

                • +1

@easternculture: I need to figure out how to use AliExpress coins properly. I seem to only find items that only allow me to use a small number of coins. Have lots of AliExpress coins and they expire every year unused (only managed to use a small portion, most of my transactions couldn't use coins).

                  • +1

@netsurfer: let me know if you find out, I never use them and they always just expire

        • Honestly, Essanger cable quality isn't that good. I only use them on devices which are no longer in warranty period. I wouldn't say these J.Burrows are great quality either. They are thicker than normal. The USB 3.2 gen 2 10A version uses 15A rated power cable (emarked is set to 10A). I had low expectation of J.Burrows USB 3.2 gen 2 10Gbps 10A cables, but to my surprise, they work under USB 3.2 gen 2x2 (20Gbps) mode.

These J.Burrows USB-C to USB-C USB 2.0 Cables are better than Amazon Basics ones. The integrated cable tie, while a good idea, is bulky and cheap quality though. Essanger and toocki cables look nicer / more stylish. These J.Burrows cables aren't pretty, but they seem to work okay.

          • @netsurfer: I have a failed Amazon Basics USB cable. It wasn't even used on a daily basis. I will not buy them again.

            • @Think: Yeah, same, bad quality. Really should throw mine away. I will never buy them again too. Can't believe Amazon would cheap out so much. I pretty much black listed Amazon Basics products.

        • +3

btw I did a teardown of toocki cables, they are not good quality, and I got what I paid for. Essager are ok. Baseus cables one of the best and theres one its a aluminium body, dark blue, very minimal, says 100w on the body, but it by far I tested that it has the lowest resistance even for 2m, recommend that one and its fairly cheap. Has it for a couple of years and still holding strong.

          • @c8au: Lately, ive been using an angled usbc to iphone connector toocki cable and havent had any issues with it. Looks very premium, even at the connector sides

            • @easternculture: May look premium, but may not be on the inside. They are not even MFi certified. Have you even measured the cable resistance?

              • -1

@c8au: Its for an iphone 7 and ipad mini 5, so dont really care as long as they charge 🤣. Plus im comparing them to the J burrow cables , not original apple or samsung.

Regardless, better than paying $10 for a crappy local one

          • @c8au: Toocki and Essager, to me are in the same class. I have Essager products which look like $2 shop / reject shop products. To be fair though, it depends on the actual product. I only have one Baseus product. It seems better than Essager and Toocki.

From checking through USB meters and running charging and data tests, I recommend sticking with original cables and chargers if you can. For example, less power is needed to read the eMarking data from Apple and other original cables that come with your original equipment than the cheap "USB4 / 40Gbps" cables you get form AliExpress. The Apple USB-C cable only supports USB2, but the charging side is more consistent and the eMarking data is clean. The J.Burrows USB 3.2 gen 2 cable (which is also eMarked) also needs a bit more power. Some of these cheap cables, when you read the eMarking data, you really question whether that's correct or they BS the data a bit.

            • @netsurfer: Im just comparing them to the J burrow ones posted here and NOT original apple or samsung. I would imagine all these cheapies whether from OW or AE are similiar quality.

              • +1

@easternculture: I also used to think the same as you easternculture <3

but there actually really IS a massive difference between good cables and bad cables. unfortunately, despite the high sales and reviews on aliexpress, vast majority of cables on aliexpress are quite bad. objectively, based on tear downs, based on temperature control, based on longevity and cable breakage from within.

baseus is no doubt one of the better ones, but their quality can vary too. some of their products are better than others.

If you want a cable that's guaranteed good quality, look for usb-if certification. I've got multiple and they've been going strong for years now. not a single one has failed me. when i bought from aliexpress, every cable stopped working within 6 months, bar none. including baseus ones.

IKEA usb c to usb c cables are probably the best i've tried for less than $5 (https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/sittbrunn-usb-c-to-usb-c-white-…). don't recall if they're usb-if certified, although i vaguely recall they weren't. I know, that sounds hypocritcal of me, i tout usb-if certification then recommend a product that ISN'T usb-if certified, but the basis of my rec for this particular product is based on independent reviewers and testers on youtube doing IKEA electronic breakdowns. IKEA just does good shit, very high quality. and the above linked cable is rated for 25,000 bends. and my anecdotal review, i guess - my ones are going strong since jan/feb of '23, when i got sick of buying new cables and started doing research about cable differences.

(which is when i spent a few hours adding every single usb-if certified cable to an amazon list: https://www.amazon.com.au/hz/wishlist/ls/3KPWIAZI6OF8W/ - add to ccc i guess. most of this list is probably no longer sold, it has been 2 years. I didn't maintain the list, coz i haven't needed to buy any more cables since '23 - corny, maybe, but genuine truth. good brands include anker, cablematters, belkin)

                • @grumblerain:

when i bought from aliexpress, every cable stopped working within 6 months, bar none. including baseus ones.

I have a few been working perfectly for over a year, one for over 2 years 🙂 so i guess YMMV

                • @grumblerain: I agree, Ikea has good products for their price. To add on the good brand list, IMO Anker is overpriced and over hyped now, Belkin good quality but expensive for what they offer. so I can recommend Monoprice and Ugreen they have cheaper options and offer good quality items. Also Cuktech(pronounced Cool Tech lol)(Sub brand of Xiaomi, predecessor of ZMI) if you can find them.

Also baseus has really low quality ones, or unofficial/fake, as I only see them on Aliexpress eg the ones with crystal head also sold by Toocki. The good quality Baseus are usually their own designs, and won’t be dirt cheap.

  • Enjoying the 3 pack from last Deal👍
    Bought the 5 pack

  • The 5 pack is actually white as per the photo.
Source: I ordered them a week ago

  • These can't do super fast charging right? (Silly question)

    • +1

Depends what you mean by super fast charging. Most android phones super fast charging is "up to" 45W, so these will work fine.

    • +1

Depends on the devices. Fast charging possible for iPhones, iPads, Most Android phones (though some use their own technologies which require special cables). Macbooks up to 60W. PC laptops will depend. If laptops require USB-C/PD 3.0 and an emarked cable to enable fast charge, then no.

These USB-C cables are not emarked.

True Ozbargainer will buy 5 adapters for $2 on Aliexpress to use Micro USB cables for USB-C devices. All Turbo Fast charges and data work as well. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005356287824.html

    • I have a collection of those adaptors included angled ones. Very useful

    • True OZBers don't waste $2 and just use original cables. OZBers bought so many gadgets, we should have enough original cables.
Don't get me wrong, I keep buying cheap AliExpress toys too. I have those adapters too, they have been collecting dust for years.

Jokes aside, those adapters only wire bare minimum pins which mean you don't get fast charging on most USB-C devices.

      • Will have to test mine because they claim 240w charging and 20Gbps

      • We do have enough original cables from micro usb as well, would you suggest throw them away?

Xiaomi Turbo charge 120W works well. But if the micro usb cable was really cheap it will work not for long in that mode.
