@Professor Chaos: how did you go?

      • +1

You don't secure it until it's either dispatched or in your hands after picking up at store. Up until then it's not actually yours. Your chance of actually securing this from Myer pricing error is next to zero.

Got past the checkout screen, tried to create an account. My god, the myer accounts team are horrible! They suck at their jobs.

It was nigh impossible to create an account using the app and now I find out it's also impossible on the web! Unknown number of unspecified errors, still can't create an account. By the time I went back to it, I couldn't get to the checkout screen anymore because it was out of stock.

    • The EXACT same thing happened to me!

I think you'll find that it's the dumbo nerds fault rather than anything else. Unfortunately around 60% of IT projects are considered failures thanks to over-confident nerds, looks like we can add another one to the impressive fail numbers.

Utter and total rubbish. Most IT projects fall because the business does not know what it wants and constantly changes requirements throughout which causes projects to fail or not meet requirements.

The MYER website is a mess because MYER chose to outsource it's website and it has changed companies/product on a number of occasions and each time the look and feel has changed.

MYER should perform the development in-house like successful companies (Amazon) so they can retain the same look and feel. At the very least they should produce a CUE document so the customer has a Consistent User Experience.

It's truly amazing how so many people have no idea what they are talking about. If you want to blame anyone look at MYER senior management, the whole company is stuffed and management is responsible for this but the website is stuffed and apparantly this is the fault of "IT nerds".

        • +2

Hahaha you put Myer and UX in the same paragraph, pretty sure they're still betting on their bricks and mortar stores to succeed.

This looks like a line out of my lecture this semester for project modelling. Are you my lecturer?

Looks like spending too much time on OZBargain is the reason for your inattention, see me after the next lecture.

        • Yeah OK.

I learnt that at Uni studying for a Bachelor of Computer and Information Science but I'm sure you're more qualified than the professor who was teaching Information Systems.

Just thinking about it I think you might be describing exactly the sort of over-confident individual he was talking about LOL … it sounds exactly like a communication issue that happened due to these people having less than average social skills which leads to them not getting at what the client wanted to start with.

And then, just like my professor maintained, these people shift the goalposts to justify the failure rather than gasp admitting they have a problem.

Or they just promised what they cannot deliver which isn't unusual either.

It's pretty clear that I am if he made such a stupid absurd incorrect comment like you claimed he did. I guess he hasn't stepped outside a classroom since the 60's.

How any professor can say "I think you'll find that it's the dumbo nerds fault rather than anything else. Unfortunately around 60% of IT projects are considered failures thanks to over-confident nerds, looks like we can add another one to the impressive fail numbers." and more to the point how can any student studying IS not only believe this but also repeat it!

What I said has nothing to do with the social skills of the "computer nerds" but everything to do with the business making decisions and changes once work has commenced.

And then, just like my professor maintained, these people shift the goalposts to justify the failure rather than gasp admitting they have a problem.

Once again the people that shift the goalposts are the business people.

Or they just promised what they cannot deliver which isn't unusual either.

This is rarely an IT issues and nearly always a business issue especially when the business tries to use technology to solve a people problem.

          a. Didn't pass

          b. Didn't get a job in IT

Based on the comments I'm going for option A as most likely.

Or they just promised what they cannot deliver which isn't unusual either.

These promises are generally made by the sales team or clueless PMs who don't take the time to understand the client's requirements.

  • Still in stock for me, just bought one 5 mins ago.

  • No good

  • +1

Not sure what I will do with 50…

Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas.

    • Why would you buy 50 them. Sure way to get your order cancelled.

      • +2

50 = I want to be broden today.

  • Looks like it is back in stock. Just ordered mine 2 minutes ago.

Edit: It limits your order to only one unit.

  • Confirm it is still working.
If I checkout as guest it says out of stock, I mad an account and had limited stock. Was able to make the payment that way.

  • Expired again

  • Is this a small clipper or is it for short hairs?

    • Just buy when you can & think of the length later :))..

  • Out of stock

  • Looks gone now

I really don't like it when you add the item to your bag and half way through check out it tells you it just ran out. In the right system, they should preserve the right for that buyer for some limited time to let him check out.

  • +3

As great that it is that OP wants to help people out, these $0 pricing errors at Myer are never honoured as far as I know. I've seen a few of these come up in the past and there's always a flurry of comments saying they were cancelled later on. Those who are making accounts just to try and buy them are wasting their time. If someone can comment that they've ever gotten one of these 'free' items before I'll happily stand corrected.

  • +1

Please don't call myer to confirm its a pricing error

    • Good idea. Let's all call Myer to confirm pricing error to quickly tip them off. :P

      • (I did see the above comment was a joke, so please ignore down-vote).
It is good for a company to learn from it's own online mistakes…maybe then they will pay some-one properly to get their web site sorted.

So I ordered in the morning via paypal, still no order confirmation from Myer and nothing showing up in my PayPal. Seems like the Myer site is a bit messed up, doubt the order is coming through…

    Anyone else had success?

  • +1

I ordered around 8:40, the order went through (after I put a $4 item with it), the postage would be around $10…

I really hope they won't tell me that the free hair clip is gone and the $4 item would be delivered :(

As a new ozbargainer - I've learnt my lesson —-> read comments before taking action

    • +1

+10 for adding an item together with "free" hair clipper

    • +1

Usually by the time the comments section is read the bargain is gone! A true ozbargainer takes the leap first and sorts out the other stuff later :) .

  • What a turd of a website. can't belive these jokers wasted millions on this POS.

  • Ha ha - surprise, surprise. They've cancelled the order as a mistake.

  • Yep just received cancellation as well

  • Hey the price is back to $0 again but seems out of stock

  • So did any one at all actually receive one of these?. I think not.

  • My order went through but didn't receive any emails from paypal or myer
