The thing I like about the Z1 is that it can easily run CM12.1, which is the best custom ROM at the moment IMO. Waterproofing is also pretty good.
Let me tell you a story about my Sony.
Daughter had to watch peppa pig in the bath, no problems done or plenty of times. Screen started acting up so I sent it to Sony to get repaired.
Called them up asking how it's going, they said they have received it but they can't find it. They will send me a refurbished phone. I'm thinking cool, new phone. Received the phone, incoming calls would crash the phone and neither of the speakers would work. So i sent it back to Sony
Few days later they email me a quote repair for $349 as the reason the speakers don't work is because the "sim tray is stuck in the phone". Naturally I reject this quote and ask for someone to call me back to discuss it. Few hours later I receive a new quote for $650. They found my original phone and want to charge me $650 to fix it and $349 to fix the other phone!!!!
F**k Sony is all I have to say. Never again!!!
Can't speak for he Sony but the Zenfone 2 is a top tier phone for $270. Screen is great, performance is fluid and the ZenUI paired with ZenMotion makes it all worth it. I think the response time is one of the fastest out there too. Dual Sim functionality is something I now take advantage of. Yoiu can have guest accounts and private accounts to store and hide data which is great if you use it for business or anything else.
I've had no problems with it except the phone gets a little hot sometimes. It also uses more charge than usual when its on sleep mode. I think its a software issue though which shoukd be fixed. Also you'll need to use an AC adapter but that doesn' tworry me at all.
