      That Samsung is slower in both read and write. Samsung Pro is read/write 90mbs/50mbs while Sandisk Pro is read/write 95mbs/90mbs.

        That's not true. If you have a look Amazon reviews, it is around R90/W80. And lower price obviously. Also not many device supporting UHS3, sandisk may not reach 95/90

          UHS1 is all thats needed to support 90mbs write, the limit of UHSI write is 104mbs. I read the first reviw that came up for each card, samsung got read/write 87mbs/75mbs while sandisk got 98mbs/90mbs.

          So the sandisk is the way to go if you want the best but the samsung is good value.

          @TRANCE: You're saving at most a few seconds, but paying significantly more. The PRO is faster than the Sandisk Extreme and only slightly slower than the Extreme Pro.

          In terms of performance per $, the Sandisk are way behind.

      I will second that suggestion. It is better value per $ than Sandisk. I've seen these as low as $35 USD on amazon.

      At 90MB/s read and 80MB/s write, it is faster than the Extreme and only marginally slower than Extreme Pro, but much cheaper.

      I haven't had any problems yet using Samsung EVO Micro cards. In the past the full size Extreme SD cards were better since you could stuff more NAND chips in them for better performance (also possibly reliability). However, these days with the performance gains of these all-in-one packages, it could very well be the case that a full size card isn't much different internally from a microSD card.

      There is convenience to be gained by using a MicroSD card, since you can put it in a Meenova Card Reader and read it on your phone (if it supports OTG and/or ExFAT - if it's a 64GB card) while on the go. Also, you can use the card in more devices since all MicroSD cards supported with an adapter, but you can't adapt a full size SD card to use with a MicroSD slot device. Since the MicroSD is a sealed unit, an advantage is that it's waterproof.

    I want to get in on this deal but can't decide - I'm wondering if there is there any use case for getting the Extreme Pro over the Extreme?

    It seems that unless I'm shooting 4k30fps with a GoPro Hero4 Black or running an OS off the card, getting an Extreme will likely be sufficient.

    I'd probably only use this in a Hero4 silver or smartphone or in my DSLR w/ adapter that can only do 1080p - will there be any tangible benefit for me getting the Pro?

      Hi callistus,

      For video shooting in 1080p and below, the Extreme is more than enough.
      The only tangible benefit that I can perceive from getting the Pro is that if you were shooting photos with your DSLR in the RAW file format in rapid succession or burst, you will notice better write speeds, reducing the load time necessary to start shooting again. Of course burst shooting is also limited by the camera itself too.

      There's a slight issue on our end at the moment.
