Shattered Rear Casing iPhone 5s. Still under Warranty

Hey guys,

I bought an Iphone 5s some Facebook group. (because I wanted to try IOS for a change)
Screen is fine, but the rear bottom glass is shattered and the inside is exposed and the top left has a big dent on it.

So I decided to check if its still under any warranty from Apple and to my surprise it still is, until November.

"Repairs and Service Coverage: Active
Your product is covered for eligible hardware repairs and service under Apple's Limited Warranty.
Estimated Expiration Date: 06 November 2015
You may have consumer law rights - in the EEA and Switzerland, national consumer laws entitle consumers to obtain from the seller, free of charge, repair or replacement of products that have a lack of conformity for a minimum of 2 years from delivery, and longer under the local law of some countries. and then I can actually set up a date for a repair in one of their store for this reason
"Accidental damage (such as a cracked screen or liquid spill)"

lets be honest it will cost me something… right?
Better with Apple or cheaper to get it fixed somewhere else?

Whats broken is the glass at the rear bottom casing and a huge dent and chip next to the power button.

  • I'm guessing they'll want you to pay for a replacement refurbished phone. I'm not sure what the cost is for iphone5 though.

  • -1

The replacement deal is for faulty goods. Not goods that have been broken. Unless you can prove that the glass shattered all by itself. Otherwise replace it yourself http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Brand-new-high-quality-back-c…

  • As long as it isn't broken in half they will take your phone and give you an out of warranty replacement for the price listed above, done it before to phones with shattered screens, no questions asked.

    • its still under warranty and it's not the screen is fine, just the rear case is shattered

oh i see. Apple treat Accidental damage as OOW.. k…

  • Take it to an Apple store and get the genius bar guys to give you a quote.

This is a good URL that discusses OOW service

So smart they work in a shop for low wages

      • +1

That is what Apple calls them. There are plenty of smart people who work for low wages, I'm not prejudice.

  • take it in and they will swap it for a refurb (not fix your phone) for $388.
