MicroSD card to SD card adapter

Hey guys, I've been looking for a good microSD card to SD card adapter. I've used a few cheap ones that just keep breaking, and as most of my external memory comes from microSD cards, I've realised that they also bottleneck speeds pretty hard.

Thanks.

    Are you talking about the adapters that look like SD cards and you insert the micro SD card into the end? I didn't think they had any circuitry in them - are you sure they are slowing down the micro SD cards?

    • +1 They are basically connectors.

      • Can't post a photo right now, I know there's no logic in them but the ones I got are actually so bad. Plastic shells with just terrible pins that break after a few weeks of pulling out and pushing in.

        • I just use the ones that come with the microSD card. Kingston provides them for example. But then I usually leave them in for long periods. As cards are so cheap, why not just dedicate cards to locations and not keep moving them in and out?

        • @greenpossum:

          Generally happens when I film something then move it to my computer to get stuff of and back and forth like that.

        • @smileymiwo: I normally just use an app like AndFTP to upload the file from the phone to the computer.

  • Nifty MiniDrive is quite good, a bit more expensive than those on eBay though. If you have a Macbook they've got adapters that fit perfectly.

    • Thanks for the suggestion but I'd need a full sized SD card adapted, going to be putting this in a few of my different cameras.

      • Might be better to just use full size SD cards in cameras.

        I've only ever had one memory card failing on me and that's the only one I put into a device using an adaptor. I reckon having one extra set of contacts means there's a higher chance of a loose contact (even if just momentarily) and that can't be good for the memory card.

    • I was dumb enough to buy this Nifty drive for my macbook for $40
      until I discovered this —-> http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Short-Micro-SD-SDHC-TF-Card-Adapt…

      for 1/10th of the price it does the same thing!

  • Just buy a low capacity kingston/sandisk/Samsung micro sd for cheap and use the converter that comes with that?
