Just checked skyscanner in Oct/Nov (also other months like Mar/Apr16) and found lots of deals SYD to LAX for around $740AUD its operated by Qantas sold by American Airlines.

New York from Sydney is around $840AUD !
Las Vegas from Sydney is around $794 AUD !
TORONTO Canada just $1045 AUD (around $500 less than next cheapest)
Vancouver From Sydney (Mar/Apr 16) $1008

    Too bad we'd already jumped on the current AirNZ sale for those dates- flying premium economy in their space seats to LAX for about $1900. My (very tall) travel partner is happy… but the OzBargainer in me is not!

    I jumped on these after missing the earlier one. Luckily when I realised these were on AA u went through their site which allows a hold (incisive a price hold). I put 3 sets of dates on hold. Once I realized the price was gone I went back and bought the preferable one on hold for original price … Price stayed the same. Now ticketed. The other two are still in hold for original price.

        Pretty sure the answer is NO. As the name on the reservation can no longer be changed.

        Both are different times for a specific itinerary… Mel-lax-orf-lax-mel as my wife's family live in. Norfolk Virginia…. Don't think anyone else wants to go to Norfolk :) I also don't they are transferable especially since held under my ff account and details

      you go on AA and they do a price hold? how does that work?

        You go through pricing dates and picking flights and entering passengers then on the payment part there is a radio button for "hold" which holds it for. 24 hrs but actually lines than that as it holds it till midnight the next day est.

    Did anyone have a problem with these bookings?

    I booked the ticket through Expedia. I can see my booking on Expedia as confirmed, also in Qantas and American Airlines website with the status as ticketed but the transaction of American Airlines has disappeared from my Credit Card account after being for over a week as pending.

    On Expedia my itinerary says Your reservation is booked and confirmed. There is no need to call us to reconfirm this reservation.

      I have this same situation.

      I called Expedia and asked them if it was ok and they said that there is nothing to worry about, it's all confirmed, and they'll escalate the payment to make sure that goes through.

      So I expect that to appear on my credit card at some point soon.

      Having said that, I don't think I'll be fully relaxed about it until the charge actually does go through to my credit card

          Too good to be true… my dream of flying to LAX for free will not happen. Expedia/AA have finally took the money I paid weeks ago.

    My flights thru Priceline have been changed QF17 is now QF11 (747 -> 380), considering that when I booked QF11 was $US100 more it is unlikely that Qantas would be reassigning flights for invalid bookings

      We also had reassigned flights from JFK>SYD. I believe this has something to do with the changes. Call Qantas to reconfirm any seats you may have booked where there's a change of plane. It's all good.

    Expedia has come through, flights have been honoured. They took $740AUD + roughly $22AUD in taxes off my credit card.
