  • these things are a POS

    barely ok for camping etc

best to use once and throw away

    • What is wrong with them, looks to me nothing should go wrong.

They are plain stainless steel, unless that is the problem.

      • +2

        quality is poor

        metal is thin

One thing I don't skimp on is good quality pans, I wouldn't buy these.

$19 for a 3 piece to throw around on high heat who cares?

      • +1

i'd rather save my $19 then throw it around buying these pans.
        quality pans are an investment.

        • +1

Nope. Pots and pans are not an investment any more than good quality camera lenses.

An investment means I can buy today and sell later at a higher price.

A quality item is a quality item. It may be less trouble than the cheap version. It may produce better results. It may last longer. What it doesn't do is set up a fund for your retirement.

Sorry but I hate the "x is an investment" meme.

        • @syousef:
The definition of an investment can also mean a sacrifice undertaken with the expectation of a worthwhile result.

A purchase of a quality item is a sacrifice of an economic benefit with the expectation that the use of the asset will last longer and produce better results than a cheaper counter part.

It's an investment not in terms of monetary returns as you refer to but an investment none-the-less.

        • @dasher86:

Nonetheless I think that the expectation when people say these things is that they will be better off financially in the long run. Whereas that often isn't true. I agree with buying high quality where it is required, but putting this in terms usually reserved for financial gain is a bad idea.

I presume the dictionary definition you looked up and quoted without attributing is the same one I got googling. If so you'll also note the synonyms: sacrifice, surrender, foregoing, loss, relinquishment, forfeiture

          and the example:
"a substantial investment of time and energy"

I don't think you were trying to tell me that i should make a sacrifice for the sake of the Gods of good pots and pans.

        • @syousef:
yes that is exactly what i'm trying to tell you.
All hail the sauce pan man who is made of good quality pots and pans! =)

        • @dasher86:

          :-)

          Mmmmm sauce.
