Which ISP on Greensborough Exchange with ADSL2 Broadband

Hi All

Anybody on Greensborough Exchange with ADSL2 broadband.

http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewexchange.php?Exchange=G…

Seems to be Telstra, but Spintel indicate Urban is available (Optus) and have a good deal on (no setup fee or contract). But provider list does not show it except as expensive plan

Velocity Four (Includes Line Rental, Unlimited Local, National & Mobile Calls) Unlimited $94.95

Provider Status Available Now
Agile (Internode) Active Yes
TPG Active Yes
Chime (Iinet) Active Yes
Telstra ADSL1 Active Yes
Optus Limited or No Ports No
Primus Active Yes
Telstra ADSL2+ Active Yes

I am with Belong (Telstra), but they have really screwed up the move and looking to change anyway for a better deal. Could do TPG 6 month deal, but they want $100 set up plus $80? activation fee

  • Most ISPs have address checkers on their web site that will tell you if they can connect you. Many have "on network" (ie their own equipment or a partner's equipment) and "off network" packages (ie Telstra).

    Belong is Telstra.

    • Hi pjetson

The problem is, the checkers are best guesses.
There are occasional deals come up only if you are on urban or metro (as I mentioned spintel). For one such deal (can't remember who) the checker said I was urban, when proceeding to sign up, I got the price for metro. Contacted them and they said it was metro, tough luck.

I phoned spintel and asked for confirmation, but they said I had to sign up first before they could confirm.

It might work if you have an existing phone number, but the old tenants/agents can't be arsed to tell us anything more than they have internet. When we get there I will try the 12722123 trick to get the old number as long as there is still a dial tone.

Belong told me they are not showing a line in and now we are waiting weeks for an engineer (long story - lots of hassle and want to switch). As I mentioned, a number of providers use the exchange, but not Optus (or Optus is full)

So I'm really after people who are connected (map in the link shows the boundaries)and who they use. Any referrals would be welcome (got one already for spintel) so we can both get a couple of bucks off
