Not price increase but just ur savings is capped at the $500 spend

    • Do you know if you get an international transaction fee for a booking ( if you don't have a fee free card)? Is it charged in AUD?

      • No international fees, you are charged in AUD. The transaction is made in Australia.

        • Thanks!
The first deal works out cheaper for me because the hotel also takes off 25% for stays over 5 nights so I can't break it into parts to access the $100 deal.

  • Same here, I did compare this promo with the other one I used for my booking:

    Hotel (5 nights)
    2 guests $266.24 avg/night $1,331.19
    Stay 3 Nights & Save 20% -$266.24
    Promo code applied -$212.99
    Taxes and fees $109.30
    Total trip cost $961.26
    Your savings $479.23

    With the new promo:

    Hotel (5 nights)
    2 guests $266.24 avg/night $1,331.19
    Stay 3 Nights & Save 20% -$266.24
    Promo code applied -$100.00
    Taxes and fees $109.30
    Total trip cost $1,074.25
    Your savings $366.24

      Because you should seperate transactions.

      2 nights - $100
      2 nights - $100
      1 night - $25

      Saving $225 instead of $212.99

The hotel can usually put you up in the same room without checking out. Check with reception or call them ahead so they can organise their rooms.

      • You lost me with that post. Could not work out what you said. For the $100 off you have to spend minimum $500 so I don't think it will work out.

        • Because your savings are capped at $500 spend. It doesn't matter if you spend $1331.19 or $2000 because you will only save $100 if spending over $500

          So if you put night 1 & 2 = $266.24 x2 = $532.48 (which saves you $100)

Then you repeat for night 3/4 and lastly night 5 only save $25 since it's over $175 spend but under $300 spend

        • @WaterMark: Also You have to take into account that you can use the code once per booking.

        • @Colombian: what does this mean?

        • Colombian also wouldn't be able to access the first 20% discount if he didn't book a minimum of three nights at one time.

NB:saving is applied once you spend the amount pre-taxes.

  • Thanks EC. Make sure you use one of these for LA! :)

  • Is this website more popular for hotel bookings out of Australia?

Been looking to book a hotel in Sydney CBD for 1-2 nights for a short trip

    • +1

I've been using them to book for the NRL Grand final weekend (5th Oct) for several years now, never missed a beat and always got a really good price for decent hotel with them. I have done a lot of research and always shop around, but HotelClub seem to always come back as the best value.

What dates are you looking at? I know for my weekend the hotels sell out quick.

      • I got to university in Canberra at the moment so really anytime that's cheap is great just for a short holiday

      • I'm also heading up to Sydney for a short trip the weekend after the NRL GF (arriving Thursday 8th - Sunday 11th) and looking at cancelling the booking I already have, since I can use the promo code here. Current booking through another site is pay-on-arrival, with free cancellation, however. Basically a question of if I can get travel insurance to cover it, I believe.

  • How do you enter the promo code? Can't see the field anywhere on the checkout page.

    • +1

You have to enter the code before searching for hotels.

  • Not sure I understand this.

In order to use SAVE50OFFAU – Book a participating hotel in Australian Dollars … receive $50 off your hotel booking provided that your booking costs no less than AUD$300.

I book a participating hotel, it costs no less than $300, but the coupon doesn't apply. What gives?

    Hotel (2 nights)
    3 guests
    $169.68 avg/night
    $339.36
    Stay 2 Nights & Save 15% -$50.91
    Taxes and fees
    $28.85
    Total trip cost
    $317.30
    Your savings
    $50.91

    • Looks like the price trigger does not include "taxes and fees" (GST) in its calculations. So it sees the total price after the 15% discount as roughly $288. Then it checks for if the code is valid, but it's not at this point. Then it adds GST.

Disclaimer: not affiliated, this is just my guess as to why it's not working.
