Home Media Centres, Upgrading from WDTV, Looking to Spend < $100

Hi All,

We’re looking to upgrade from the WDTV (Not live) that we have been using.

The main things we want which our current set up doesn't allow are:

  • Watch Mp4 files on the TV (WDTV live allows this, but not our other wants)
  • get online so we can stream Netflix & You tube (Currently this is done using a HDMI cable to connect a laptop)
  • Setup XMBC (now Kodi) or something similar so we can have movie posters, descriptions etc.

From the research I’ve done the MK808B Plus seems like a good fit.

(Our current TV has 2x HDMI ports a composite set and a USB port.)

We're hoping to get opinions from anyone who knows more than us!

Comments

  • Chromecast - under $40

  • that requires us to still use the laptop/s though doesn't it?
    & doesn't allow for XBMC?

  • +1

buy a raspberry pi, follow one of the many guides and create yourself a little machine it should cost about < $50

  • You can put Kodi on a amazon fire stick.
