  • Qld: Strathpine and Virgina stores out of stock. Wonder if it is Ozbargainers who put them on hold :)

  • Just be aware that the BENQ DLP projectors have a track record of pixel burn when used mostly for video, I'm not sure how susceptible this model is. I had a dual purpose BENQ widescreen projector that lasted about three years before white pixels appeared everywhere. Just out of warranty and BENQ didn't want to know. Replaced with an Epson TW3200 LCD Projector which has been just awesome since. You do still get what you pay for ;)

      ACL applies these days.

  • Is it worth getting a display stock?

    • The display stock for projectors would most likely have just sat on the shelf for however many months since they put it on show. It's not like the display computers or phones that get attacked by every kid that comes in with their parents and think they're there for playing with. It would never have been switched on.

      • Good point. Ask for a demo, and go into menu. It will tell you how many hours it has been on for

        • got it last night.did not have time to ask for a demo.got it in a box with remote, cables and manual.

        • @Amit:
          how many hours on it?

        • @outlander: have not checked yet

  • How would you connect one of this to make a a proper home theatre…thinking of either of 70" TV or this?

    • +1

Go for the projector for sure especially if you can find any stocks at this price. You won't get the feel of a big screen from a 70" TV.

    • +1

There are a few throw calculators online, just to make sure you have enough distance from the projector to the screen/wall for a decent size.
I'm pointing one of these at 120" 16:9 screen, it is impressive!

    • Yes please, what do I need to watch tv via this?

      • HDMI signal

    • As long as you have some form of light control in the room, then a projector is a better option IMO.

If you can't control the light, go the TV route.

  • Any one know of any good deals on projector screens?

    • Motorised or Manual?

      • Either but i sure moterised will have heft price tag, so lets stick with manual

        • +1

Projector screens from OzPlaza and mytopia are reasonably priced. Check prices on ebay and their websites because sometimes they are not the same. On ebay you may find other sellers too.

        • @Az:

They were the same ones I'd considered.

          Anyone purchased from either?

        • +1

I had purchased a motorised one from OzPlaza and two fixed ones from mytopia and they were all fine.

    • Note that these days, with a bright, modern projector like this, a white-ish wall looks almost as good as a screen.

  • Thank, could only find a display model left missing remote, picked up from Vic Park WA yesterday.

    • If you are hanging it on the ceiling then a remote is very important to me. Did you get any discounts for the display missing remote unit?

      • Yeah they gave a discount, I have mounted already replacing an old projector and will need to organise a remote (setup was a pain without one!). I was hoping to use the remote from my Amp (another OZBARGAIN Yamaha HTR6050) but the BENQ codes don't work so far.

  • Called Liverpool yesterday they had one and told me they will put it aside for me for 24 hours called them back after 5 hours and they sold it

  • There is only one left in Victoria at Chadstone and that has a faulty lamp (?) dunno if a new lamp would fix it and if they'd throw the lamp in for free.

  • Dead link, so marked Out of Stock.

  • Picked up display model for $600 deal still available in store.

Got it for $550, thanks guys. Here is the invoice.

    • 550? How did you get it for 550?! Wasn't it 680 ish?

      • Display unit, missing the lens cap. :-0

        • Lucky! Congratulations, enjoy the hell of it.

I wish I could have other stores price match
