    Thats fantastic price!

    • +2

but the trouble is … the stock

      • As usual. These types of Officeworks clearance items are almost always discounted when there are less than 10 units in stock in the whole country (which makes posting them against the rules).

        • The stock doesn't exist anywhere in Melbourne that I could find. False advertising. Someone with more time please call the ACCC.

      I was too excited :-)

  • +2

Good price.. but can't find any stock

    • +1

Saw the price at Brisbane CBF store

      • +13

hahaha what a store that must be

        • +1

Sums up most staff at most retail outlets really

  • are they quiet?,

    • +1

      yeah mines really good

    • +2

I have had one for about 2 years and I would actually say it's quite loud.. Not obnoxiously loud but you hear it above your head when the movie is quiet. Other than that it has been amazing

      • Agreed. Much louder than my old Panasonic (but then that retailed for $3k+). For the price, who cares though?

  • Great deal - I bought one of these http://www.techradar.com/au/reviews/pc-mac/monitors-and-proj… on gumtree for $80 a few weeks back and thought I'd be satisfied for a while - not if spec'd projectors keep coming down in price!

    • $80 or $800?

If the former, is it hot?

    • It came out in 2006, so its 8 years old. I paid $80

  • +1

    Very very good price!
I got this refurbished on the BenQ webpage for $729 pickup.

This model is even more superiour than the W1070+ as that one is louder (albiet brighter) AND has a worse refresh rate for some reason.

  • +1

    No stock SA :(

  • +2

You should mention Officeworks in the bargain title - "in store" doesn't mean much if you don't know what store.

    • Thanks..
      fixed

  • Great price… ring time…. got last one in Windsor Brissy… Was on display but not being used… so got him down a bit more. :)

    • +1

      Got it for $600 :)

      • +1

damn well done! that's the best I think anyone's been able to get.

        • Thanks mate… pretty happy about the price!

      • Would you be able to upload your receipt?

  • how long do the bulbs usually last? I've heard they are exy to replace…

    • 6000hrs according to spec

      • cool thanks

    • $200 last time I checked.

      • thanks, wow pretty pricey indeed…it's kinda like the printer cartridges ;)

        • Lamps used to be $700 when projectors cost thousands, so not too bad.

        • Ha, I know that's in cheek, but it's definitely WAY better value than printing :-)

Watching movies on the projector is SUCH an improvement.

    • I've had mine 2 years and use it heaps and I'm only just at 2000 hours and don't think I'll need to replace it anytime soon as I've been using it on the smart eco which looks pretty much the same as the other modes! Probably buy a new projector before it needs changing

    • i bought mine a few days before the world cup, have used it every single day for at least a few hours and its still going strong. (it says the equivalent lamp hour is 4115 and i have always had it set on eco)

  • +2

Tried Mosman, DY & North Ryde….NO STOCK

  • how much the replacement lamp?

  • +1

Great projector, bargain price. I'm on 4000 hours for my first lamp with this projector, should last 6000 hours in eco mode :)

    • +1

5000 ECO, 6500 "SmartECO" (Whatever that is).

  • How are these for gaming?

    • +1

I play ps4 on mine and I cant see any flaws..

      • how far back is your projector from the wall?

Also how much (as a guide) was your drop down screen?

        • +2

my projector is mounted 3.5m from my 120' screen
Personally I think its a great size from the 4m viewing position.
although I've had no complaints when the family sit even closer

        • @dmonte03: oh awesome!
so how much did your screen cost in the end?

        • +1

          @Da dpG:
My screen was given to me as a gift but he got it around $130

  • +3

No stock in Perth after ringing the 3 stores that show stock

  • yeah, they want to sell them off and replace with a newer model HT1075 or W1070+ in AU.

    http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-HT1075-1080P-Theater-Projector/dp…

but HT1070 is still a good projector for that price.

Was looking at buying this, then saw the rainbow effect from the DLP and decided it wasnt for me. Shame, cause the overall pic quality looks awesome.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYBurcnYx2g

    • was it this projector that you saw or an older one? the newer ones have a better colour wheel, twice as many colours or something, rainbow effect is greatly reduced… you notice it for a little while, but after a while it disappears and not really an issue.

      I have the w7000 though.

    • +1

I was the same., When I got it i could see rainbows, only when you move your head around. YOU see them more when you look for them. I wanted to return it, but then I realized that a good LCD projectors are much bigger in size and heavier and also cost more. After using it for more than 6 months I don't see rainbows. I put the filter on and bulb also got dimmer, as a result you get less rainbows. Also you can paint your wall in grey, it will also help to reduce rainbows and boost contrast.

Why the heck are you searching up MX518 videos??? It's not even close to being a similar model to the W1070. MX series are created for powerpoint presentations / educational purposes, and not for movies.

Also, camera's pick up effects differently to the eye. No different than looking through a camera pointing at a monitor you can see the refresh rates clearly, whereas the eye can't.

      • "Also, camera's pick up effects differently to the eye…"
That's it. I learned a new trick today and that's how to tell if your fluorescent lights use magnetic ballast or electronic ballast (newer). You just point your camera to the light and if you see lines through it, it's magnetic, as they refresh slower.

  • Wow,amazing price. Im on my second benq projector, a w1300 I paid a lot more for at the start of the year, but the w1070 is amazing bang for buck and unbeatable at this price.

  • +1

Unfortunately no stock at Ringwood or Chadstone store in Victoria, not sure if anyone else had any luck for Victoria?

  • Cheap indeed if you can find one. Can anyone comment on whether this device exhibits any/much 3D crosstalk (AKA ghosting)? My 3 year old Epson 3D LCD projector has zero crosstalk unlike plasma/LCD 3D TVs of the time (or even now I presume/suspect). Some reviews claim this one has no noticeable crosstalk but I could point willing owners to test pattern/instructions used to gauge/confirm that.

  • Would this be any good as an outdoor projector. Would 2000 lumens project in the day time? P.S It would be used under my al fresco

  • No stock at the QV store in VIC either :(

  • No stock anywhere

  • bought one of these from amazon almost a year ago, they're a great unit. our tv died a couple of months back and we've been using the projector non stop for TV since then and it's holding up well.

    would definitely recommend! :)

  • Quite a few up votes..

So there was 41+ units in stock?
2 of my locals dont have any

Looks like NSW is out of stock. I called up most of the stores and the people answering could tell me straight away as they have had lots of calls.

      • +1

Yeah only Auburn, Greenacre and Old Guilford had non-display stock at time of the post, and those got oz bargained pretty quick. Picked up the display model at Mosman for $670, thanks OP!

        • DAM, the guy I spoke to at Mosman said it was a dummy unit, not a working one. I called them 5mins after this deal was posted ;-(

        • @Ijuiceman: Yeah some of the projectors on display were dummy units it's not easy to tell until you pick them up and feel the weight.

    • Vic
Highetts out. They have a unit, but its faulty. Guy I called said system only showed stock for Werribee, South Melbourne and Chadstone (according to shortee above chadstone is out of stock)

      • I checked Werribee. They had none.

    • Hi could we get an update please on remaining stock? Ta

For stores with >=2 units, please refer to the below list (Stock as of 16/07/15 @ 09:54am)

Once again, according to the system there are plenty of stores with 1 unit, but given the accuracy of the system relative to physical/possible display model stock, i don't think it is worth mentioning them.

However, should anyone wish for me to display the stores with 1 unit, let me know and i'll check.

Auburn sold display model so no more there.

  • +1

    Anyone can share the recipt?

  • +1

Anyone in Victoria Western Suburbs, there are none in stock at the following stores:

    • Airport West
    • Caroline Springs
    • Taylors Lakes
  • picked up the last one from OW jandakot

    • You beat me too it. I ended up getting the ex display one :(

      • It's a great unit just set it up now :), there was also 1 at o'connor which I got for the spare room. My actually turn that one into a proper theatre, cause it's shaped like a rectangle.

  • Hey rep - any comments on this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/202221

  • Great Projector, really good 3D

  • I have an Epson 1080i projector and need a replacement for my lounge as the lens is out of alignment and it's just older now though still plays movies ok.

My ex-housemate used to use it for pool parties where he'd face it at the wall of the house whilst people were in the pool. I used to have friends around and we'd play 4 player Xbox360 games on it. Each player in a 4 player Mario Kart game would get equivalent of at least a 50" tv on their quarter.

If you have a white wall, you can easily get a huge screen for a fraction of the price of a TV. If the room is too bright then it may be harder to see unless you have thick curtains.

  • I have one of these and I cannot for the life of me make it square lol.

  • I have one of these and love it. No need for a TV. fine in daylight too. Good 3d. Duram, I had the same problem and tried for ages to adjust the projector - in the I found the SCREEN was not flat against the wall and that was having a huge effect.

3D is great with cheap ebay glasses from China (until I sat on 2 of them). You may manually need to update to firmware 1.08 to get all 3d modes (eg downloaded side by side 3d movies).

I had the weirdest problem with mine - for ages the picture kept going blank, or scrambled when any electrical appliance in the house was turned on. TV was fine, tried multiple cables. BenQ said nothing wrong with it, and strangely when I moved to another apartment in the same complex the problem disappeared.

    • that has something to do with the wiring mate

  • Perfect for 4 player mario kart 8. Now if only they still made 3D games.

  • +1

    None left at Maroochydore

    • Hi, is that confirmed?

  • Excuse my ignorance but should this have a remote or anything or you're supposed to be able to reach 10 foot to the ceiling? Never had a projector before so got no idea. Similarly how would one watch things from a usb drive - via media player plugged into this?

    • yep so looks like I got shafted by taking the display unit without a remote… Logitech harmony and crossed fingers here we come

      • Ouch. Call them up and say you didn't get it.
Alternatively, a long pole? You can call him Mr stick

        • yep I gave them a call and the old bird said she will check with the boys tomorrow but im not too hopeful. Worst case scenario ill chuck it on gumtree for $850!

        • -1

@fluffyduff: Re-selling it is a bit drastic. Are you sure your phone hasn't already got an IR blaster in it? You could just use that instead.

      • +2

        Maybe a fing-longer?

      • Just call BenQ and ask them to send you a new one :)

  • Just wondering if anyone in Taree NSW would be able to pick this up at Officeworks and post it to me in Sydney. I'll pay for the trouble of course. It's currently on hold for me.
