    Should've gone with 'arseking' :P

    • +51

      That is arseking too much.

      • +3

        What a crappy pun. Upvoted.

  • +3

Good one tightarse! Keep the diarrhea coming :D

  • +1

thats a fast card it seems. too bad I got the sandisk few weeks back.

" we can see that the 128GB MicroSDXC Kingston card gives us a peak 79MB/26MB read/write performance."

    http://www.back2gaming.com/reviews/b2g-hardware/storage-reviā€¦

    good reviews it seems.

    • Sarcasm? 'cause those rates aren't bad for writing 100 Mbps bit rates and then transferring gigabyte files onto your computer.

  • +8

I paid $310 for a 128MB SD card once, times have changed.

    • +23

      let it go man.

      • +2

:( I cant. I also have a 16MB SD card, how useful would that be?

        • +1

Let it go, let it go…

        • @edfoo:
          :)

          OK.

        • Good for a boot disk with a minimal OS in certain circumstances (eg, embedded netbooting ancient PC, or a Raspberry Pi trying to boot off a proper harddrive via USB, it still needs a small SD card due to hardware limitations)

        • +1

Did the 16MB card come with a Canon camera by chance? They used to bundle them (even with my 7MP IXUS) and I have to say I used it more times than I should have.

Not sure what the idea was but it was enough to test the camera out and make you quickly realise you need a lot more storage.

I have a 5 year old girl, also first thing that popped into my mind.

          I have kids too ;)

          Edit: beaten by 22 mins

        • @cyssero:
A Panasonic camera. The camera came with zero built in memory so they put in a 16meg card that could fit half a dozen photos.

        • +1

Put one of your best photo in it and give the card a frame. :)

    • +6

I paid 175 GBP for 128MB CF card in 2001.

      • +1

2000/1 for me. I had to wait for Compaq to get SD's into Australia, no one else had them at the time.
Was for my PocketPC, previous models used CF cards.

        • +5

Yep mine was for my pocketPC too. I could fit like 5 128kbps mp3 albums onto that bad boy.

    • +1

I paid $200 for 16MB ram once too

      • +3

I paid about that for 512kb expansion for my old amiga 500 back in the day, although it did have an FPU (floating point unit) on the card as well :)
About the only thing I found the FPU was good for was rendering landscapes quicker in a program called Vista (or Vista Pro) I think.

      • +1

        I once paid $200 for 4 pieces of second-hand 1Mb RAM back in 1995.

        • i used to own an Apple ][+ in 1981.

anyone wanna know how much each KB of storage was?

    • I paid $81 for a microsd yesterday.

      Wait, that's fine.

I paid a hundred bucks for a 4gb CF card once. For my PDA. That was a killer purchase.

  • +1

    Nice work.

I don't need one so urgently I'm willing to spend that much though. :p I shall continue to wait patiently.

  • Great deal thanks TA. You seem to have a bit of knowledge on these things and I am pretty clueless. Can you / somebody please recommend a card for my canon 6D? I know this isn't suitable for that but it's great for a small point and shoot so I will grab one for that.

If you want best performance you should get a fast write speed card, sandisk extreme pro is best, then samsung pro, then toshiba exceria.

      • +1

Thanks for that information, I will keep my eyes peeled for one of those. I looked at the Sandisk extreme pro, I have a few months up my sleeve till I'm off overseas and really need it then. Appreciate your suggestions thanks.

      • +2

sandisk extreme pro is best, then samsung pro, then toshiba exceria

I may be wrong, but I don't think these come in 128GB sizes?

        • +1

TA I snagged one of these bargains thanks to you. I will put it to good use. Cheers :)

        • +2

The two fastest full size 128gb SD cards for camera's are trancend ultimate and pny elite performance, both of which are read/write 90mbs/60mbs. They also happen to be fairly priced at ~$80 shipped.

        • @TRANCE: where do you get ~$80 shipped?

        • @melfes: amazon

    • +2

I have a EOS 600D & find the SD 32GB class 10 the most cost effective, both in money and time. I have the camera set to save an image as both RAW and JPG format, once the card is full I just put in another. Biggest reason I do this is because I'm always moving so I find the 32GB size easier to transfer files to my computer/back-up drive for editing/saving.

And 32GB's are always going cheap somewhere.

Edit: Also, I don't think your camera has a limit to the SD Card capacity, might pay to call a camera shop tomorrow and find out. These MicroSD cards normally come with a SD blank which it docks with so it will fit camera's, printers, etc.

      • Thanks for that, I may grab a few 32's for my upcoming holiday, will have a look out for some of those. Thanks for all helpful advice / suggestions. I used to have the same camera as you and my old cards are fine in it but my new camera needs something faster. Thanks for the info on class 10. As I stated I'm pretty clueless as I have only had the new camera for a couple of months.

        • +1

They're good. I grabbed this camera to replace my old FujiFilm s9500 for a trip to France, took some stunning photo's and filled a 32GB every couple of days.

          I recommend the class 10's.

    • +1

If you're going to get one anyway then this card should work in your camera with the supplied adapter.
Over 6000 photo capacity at the highest resolution.

      • Thanks, good to know, I can use it as a backup if other storage is full.

  • Does this work with gopro hero 4 guys?

    • the silver only support 64gb

    • Which GoPro Hero 4 model? If you want Black to record 4K video with Protune, then may be safer to buy faster cards. Otherwise this should work with lower res video.

    • They're not "officially supported" but there are reports of it working. http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/can-you-use-a-128gb-micrā€¦

I might get one of these and swap it with the 64gb one I have in my phone if it doesn't work in the gopro.

  • Great deal. I have just bought 64GB not too long ago… Really tempted getting this.

    • Me too. 64Gb isnt quite big enough for me. Veery tempted.

  • +11

don't need it. I hope it goes out of stock soon.

  • +1

If i wait, will it be a dollar cheaper like last time?

  • deleted.

    • +3

no - I can still see your comments! it says "deleted"

kingston is a shit brand.. believe that

  • +3

Kingston used to be a good brand. Now Samsung and Sandisk have taken over.

    • +1

I still have my old Kingston 128MB thumb drive which cost me about $110 back in 2000'ish, these days it's plugged into a printer. Still works well though it was No.2 as the first was a lemon and died as soon as I got it.

Edit: Forgot to say that I agree Knigston now suck, almost as bad as OCZ.

      • +1

OCZ is not that bad now after they were taken over by Toshiba. At least they use Toshiba NAND now, instead of those mixed/no brand NAND they used in some of their SSDs previously.

  • +9

You arse hole, I am broke because of you.

But I am so rich with flash storage.

    • +1

Brings back memories of this :)

  • +2

Man I want a 128 for my mac air but i was really hoping for the samsung. Anyone have experience with this particular card?

    • Yeah a faster 128gb would be good!

    • I got this for use with a Dell XPS 13, which only has a 128 SDD (much less of available space). Also ordered a short microSD->SD adaptor as a regular SD card sticks out from this ultra-portable similar to the MacBook Air.

I mainly got it for storing media files on the notebook and it should be more than adequate for that.

      • +1

Idk reading the reviews on Amazon, one said that applications lag if a file from the card is opened. Such was not a problem with the Samsung equivalent according to that reviewer. As a result I might hold off on this one. But thanks for the deal nonetheless @TA.

    • IF you are going to use it on Mac Air, invest in an adapter like MiniDrive or HyperDrive. I use the hyperdrive and it just sit right inside the mac sd adapter.

  • +2

Can i apply the code in their ebay store. I've gotta 50 buck voucher to blow…

    • +3

No mate, the code is strictly for website use - try at your own risk.

      • +3

        lol, very diplomatic :)

  • Aaaaaaannnnnnnd the competition just got smashed!! thanks mate, great price! :)

  • Thanks TA, just in time for a new hires DAC I have on the way. Might put up my first deal once it arrives ;-)

    • Great photo gordon. You look awfully familiar :)

  • TA, You've done it again.

  • Just wanted to thank you for the good work you've been doing recently with these kinds of deals! Keep it up man!

  • +2

Does adding arse to anything give you discounts now?

  • +4

I believe Tightarse is doing a better job than our politician for Australian battler and single handedly preventing Australia from going into recession :)

    • +5

Dont know about you, but I'm heading for a financial crisis by all this impulse buying

  • The day a tightarse and dicksmith combine…..that will be a day of anal-iation.

    • Will never happen. No response after numerous attempts :(

      • +2

don't worry, it will happen one day, they just gotta loosen up a bit. Or maybe you do? haha.
        puns for days.

      • Good cos I like turning up and having the item in stock which has not been the case with DSE's deals a suspicious number of times :|

      • I am really hoping for these coupon codes 'tightdick' or 'dickarse'

  • in case of warranty claim, i need to contact kingston or to you ( shoppingexpress ) ?

    • If warranty arise - you may choose to contact either of us.

      • in simple, i need to send my card to you and i will be getting a new card ? I am asking this because same happened to me 4 times with shopping square, they are one of best sellers in here. They replaced my card straight away. I see it has lifetime warranty which is quite impressive.

        • yes - we give you either replacement (usual) or refund (if we cannot get any replacement for the product) - as long as it is not physical fault.

        • +1

you better check what lifetime means…..5 years is quite common for lifetime

  • +2

Damn TA you are negotiating some truly kickarse prices for us. Like not impressive for being low compared to normal AU prices but impressive compared to global prices.

Outstanding my friend many thanks as ever for your work.

  • +1

tightarse has been draining wallets around here recently

  • +1

TA, you are kick-starting the OZ economy with some tightass deals - if you stand for Treasurer job, you will get "1" against your name from me!

  • Thanks, Ordered one.

    Order Subtotal $95.00
    Total Shipping $8.95
    Total Discount -$29.45
    GSTInc. $6.77

    Order Total $74.50

  • Should start calling tightarse something along the lines of Proposition Arse since he seems to be reminding me of the character Proposition Joe from The Wire.

    • How about Preparation H?

      • Watch out he may just get cadaverous on y'all.

  • Is any commission or incentive being offered here tightarse? I appreciate that you are a top poster but this doesnt seem any different to a referral which I thought were banned?
