I wouldn't even consider getting a phone these days unless it has 16 cores.

      that's hardcore.

The GPU has 16 cores… soooo about this phone you're considering ;)

  • Exactly the same specs as the Lenovo K3 Note but on Android 4.4 instead of 5.0.. I'll go with the Lenovo K3 Note if I was to get another phone. ;)

Some reviews on Lollipop seem to indicate it reduces battery life?.

      • I seriously considered the Lenovo but it comes with tonnes of bloatware you can't easily get rid of.

        • I did as well.Pretty much the perfect phone for the price (despite fact it doesnt have backlit capacitive buttons) - whirlpool has a thread on how to put alternative roms …too much messing around for me :/

Recently K3 Note has started shipping in India. This came with an international ROM (also known as ROW version for Rest of the World) with no bloatware and has all the Google Apps ready, supports double-tap waking and the notification LED functions.

But yes, agreed the Chinese VibeUI and their customised derivatives were never truly bloatware-free. I wasted so much time looking for one but nothing came close. But if you flash it with the ROW version then it's as clean as it gets. Also the Chinese VibeUI contains localised interpretation to phone number's area code which can't be removed.

The only downside for ROW is it doesn't get updates as frequently, still on Android 5.0. In contrast the Chinese ROMS gets weekly updates.

    Battery is decent.

I have this phone (from Geekbuying funnily enough and they were great).

Overall it is brilliant. Fast, efficient, brilliant screen, large battery and imho KitKat is more reliable than Lollipop for the battery life (my wife has lollipop on an Elephone).

BAD: bought a Google Cardboard as I'm quite into VR, only to find out the Emax has a dodgy/jumpy gyroscope…. twitches and moves even when the phone is still on a table. The Motorola G suffers from this as well but at least it has a fix (once rooted). The Emax runs some Android fork (Alyson) which isn't compatible with the fix.

But, that's my only gripe, and I hope it can be fixed (maybe I can replace the Umi Kitkat with stock Android Kitkat to then apply the Moto G fix).

Had it for nearly a month now. Love it.

    • Mind if i ask how much battery life you get from it? (i dont like the unibody +simtry personally speaking but rest of specs are great!!!)

      • I use it a fair bit (video/games/music/phone) and easily get over a day. 3750 mAH. Elephone overstate their battery capacity, but the Umi is definitely true.
