Why are we always forced to buy a whole set? I just want one fitted sheet without all the rubbish I'll never use.

  Agreed. I like fitted sheets, don't use top sheets, just a doona or nothing. All my family are the same. (Of course we live in a part of Queensland where we have 2 weeks of winter) When I used to own a backpackers hostel we would tie knots in the corner of flat sheets to make them into fitted sheets. I still do that but it's a pain. Try buying JUST fitted sheets anywhere!
