Bonds Men's Crew Socks 3PK $3.60 (Was $12, Advertised $6) @ Coles

410

Wanted to buy these for $6 as mentioned before: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/203340

Surprisingly, they came out for $3.60 at the checkout. I'm not sure if the price is same in all stores, or if it was a pricing error. Just felt happy to get 2 sets at 70% discount instead of 50%. Hope others will find the deal beneficial as well.

NB: First post of mine, thanks Ozbargainers :)

Deal was seen at Moonee Ponds VIC, however has been reported at many (but not all) stores nationwide.

I have not checked myself, but as you can see from the previous post I mentioned, those are in 50% sale as well. :)

I drove past a shop the other day and was shocked to see their undies on super special. So excited that I left skid marks. On the road of course - what were you thinking?

Thanks for the headsup. Got me some jocks and socks. Everything i have right now has a hole, i dont know why. Must be aliens doing something to me at night or something

    • Depending on your gender, socks might work…

      • Audition for magic mike just wearing a sock?

Can anyone confirm if these are available nationwide or only at Monee Ponds in Vic?

I purchased these the other day for same price - they had the $3.60 price signed at the point of sale in my store

did you get your carpet on special as well?

    • It was shag pile, with 70% off.

Purchased these in Coles Corinda (QLD) for $3.60. Same as OP, advertised at higher price.

    Coles Figtree:

Marked as $3.60, scanned at $5.50, therefore FREE. Thanks OP.

    • Sorry, I did not understand. Can you please explain! :)

      • +4

        Tag on shelf $3.60
        Scanned at Register $5.50
        Scanning Guarantee activates PRICELESS
        (For everything else there's MasterCard)

        • Just to clarify….if something scans as a higher than advertised price, are you supposed to get that product for free?

        • +1

          @ndagudbargain:
          Sometimes…. if lucky.

And usually only one item if buying multiples

        • @ndagudbargain:

Yes it was Free. If I'd bought more, they would be at the correct price. This is Coles voluntary policy.

        • @Steptoe: never heard of this. so if it is scanned as $5.5 at seld-checkout, you tell their shop assistant and he/she will mark it as free for you? just simple like that?

        • @alwayseric:
Just pay for it, then go to the Ciggys counter.

        • @Steptoe:
Thanks for clarifying. Will give it a go next time. Plenty of times I got charged incorrectly. Takes forever to get it confirmed. And I've only ever received the price difference. Both Coles and Woollies.

@Steptoe: Was going to simply link the Scanning Code of Practice but it no longer shows Coles as a voluntary signatory. Appears to be a recent change, on 26th Feb 2015 they were still listed.

        • VERY interesting. Note that Franklins and Bi-Lo have also dropped it, and I guess Aldi was never part of it.
          So it's now a Woolworths-only policy.
I've save many dollars over the years from that policy.

@ndagudbargain: Yeah its a voluntary "scanning code of practice" so while the majors are/were signatories to it they don't have to honour it as it is voluntary. Most people mistake it for law but I can't count the times people, even on ozbargain, think its law that applies everywhere when its voluntary and they get upset and threaten ACCC over it when they'll point straight to the word "voluntary" while laughing at the complaint.

          @awoff1:
Nice girl on counter offered in for Free, even before I suggested the same.

She may have known she was dealing with a Professional when I pulled out a photo of the price tags, or maybe she felt sorry for me.

        • @Steptoe:
My socks only scanned 50c cheaper but my 4xchicken soup was $2 not 90c as marked
The coles woman approached me and said they are $2 since its a 4 pack
I told her they are marked 90c and took a photo and showed her
She said she would sort it out, I mentioned the first item is free but I got 2 packets for free.

This was today and people should always check their receipts as pricing errors are common and overlooked
Imagine the hundreds of people who paid double the price for the soup
and also found fish listed at $2.80 got scanned at over $6
          What a scam

@sigh: While participation in the scheme is voluntary, signatories are obliged to comply with the terms of the agreement. As volunteers they are free to revoke their membership however.
(This is, at least, my view of their contractual obligations.)

        • +1

@bargainhunter: while i agree signatories are obliged, its far from a contract they are signatories too that can be held up in a court of law. They aren't required by law to do what it says, they can refuse, as it is voluntary, it would be a PR nightmare though.

Thanks OP, my local Coles had exactly the same description on two different price tags for adjacent stock bays - one showing the $3.60 price, and the other showing the $5.50 price.

    • Yeah same thing. 6-10 are the ones that are $3.60 with the larger size being the $5.50.
