U can also upgrade your plan after the first month to the byo plans. Im with virgin mobile paying $72 a month $60 BYO + $12 headset repayment fee. I get 9GB data with rollover and unlimited calls + $300 call credit for the "other" numbers not listed in unlimited.
The plans for the virgin mobile contacts suck when u first sign up. I only got 2.5GB data initally and $750 call credit for the numbers that are now included in the unlimited calls. Make sure u ring them up after the first month to change to their byo plans!!

    • I contacted Virgin Mobile and they said I would have to pay out my current contract before moving to a BYO plan??

Hi , they must have misunderstood you. No, You only have to pay off your current contact if u cancel your plan n services and went to the byo plan. What im saying you should do is "change" your phone plan to another (sim only) plan after the first month.I posted a link below for the plans you can choose to switch to after the 1st month.
http://www.virginmobile.com.au/mobile-phone-plans/. Click "i only want a phone plan" for all the plans im talking about.
As long as the newer plan you switch to is equal or higher $ compared to the original $ plan they would let you.
So like in this case for the s6.Where you pay $40 a month + $20 handset repayment per month. You can switch to a plan $40 and upwards in the link. Doesnt look like there isnt a $40 sim only "byo" plan. Theres $35 with only 1GB and the next one up is the $50 plan where u get 5GB data (4gb+1gb bonus data) with unlimited calls. ($35 is less than the $40 pm s6 plan so you wont be able to downgrade to that plan)
In the case where you switch to the $50 sim only. You would end up paying $70 a month ($50+$20 headset repayment).
There are other higher virgin plans for the galaxy s6 where the headset repayment fee goes down. Example $17 a month.
        http://www.virginmobile.com.au/Shop/Samsung-Galaxy-S6-32GB-B…
But youll end up paying more per month on the monthly plan. And cant downgrade to a lower plan.
Virgin also let you upgrade your phone every 6 months. All you have to do is pay off the remaining monthly headset fee (in this case its $20 per month x number of months left in contract).
Could i suggest you try ringing up virgin again. Ask them whether your able to later eg switch to the $50 (4gb + 1gb bonus data) after the first month on the s6 ($40 plan + $20 headset repayment).
Point out you dont want to cancel your services n would still like to stay with virgin. And whether its possible to switch/upgrade the plan you signed up with originally. As long as the plan you change to isnt less $ than the plan you signed up originally. Hope this helps. You can read this info in virgins terms and conditions.Alot of the time they dont discuss the terms n conditions with you clearly before signing the contract. Best to have a read

    Measly data

  • +1

Yeah I would consider this if it had at least 3GB.

  • Pass with the lack of a expandable memory and replaceable battery, S6 is Sammys iPhone.

  • Optus do a much better deal

    • Cheapest plan is $65/month, and while yes it comes with unlimited calls/text, it only comes with 500mb data. Cost you $76/month to boost that to the next level (3Gb).

So how is that 'much better' when it's more expensive and has less data?
