41

I found this to be the cheapest deal around. $60 plan for 24 months = $1440. Unlimited calls/SMS/MMS in Australia. Unlimited SMS/MMS overseas. Comes with 500MB of Data.

Comes with 6 months of Netflix, Saving of $77.94!

Also combine with your broadband to get $10 off making it $50 a month!

    Comes with 500MB of Data.

    Ouch

Oh and it's the $40 plan plus $20 handset repayments

Almost better off paying $69/month and getting 3GB data

    • +6

I might be showing my age here but @#%@#% that stupid goddamn @#$%^@ "plus handset repayments"
If it's +20 handset repayments it's a SIXTY dollar plan, not a goddamned $40 plan, PERIOD.

      • +5

You're showing more than just your age…

      • -1

        the plan is $40…
you can byo phone and pay $40/mth

you want to attach the phone you pay handset payments - per mth …
or you can buy outright and byo again…

      • It becomes important if you need to leave the plan, then you're up for $20 x 'Y' months left, plus a percentage of the plan cost.

If it was a $60 plan, then its just a percentage of what's left.

        Makes a difference!

Ultimately if you enter the deal, without a phone, it's a $60 plan, simple as that.

        • @hamwhisperer:

No actually it's a $40 BYO Plan if you don't want a phone?

        • -4

          @WoodenSpoon:
Yes and in this instant, the ad is listed with a phone on OzBargain, therefore $60

        • @hamwhisperer:
Not sure if you're trolling or? "Ultimately if you enter the deal, without a phone, it's a $60 plan" you can't enter the deal without the phone, otherwise would be a different deal.

        • @hamwhisperer:

Not sure your basis for the neg vote. Sure there's better plans, but they cost more.

        • -4

          @WoodenSpoon: Therefore it's DEFINITELY a $60 plan

        • +1

          @hamwhisperer:

          $40 My Plan Plus

          $60 My Plan Plus

Not the same plan. Nor is a $40 plan suddenly a $60 plan. Once that phone is paid off, ie 2yrs down the track, your bill will be $40, not $60, because

          it's a $40 plan!

@Spackbace: It's semantics designed to fool idiots, you probably think using the terminology "$35 cap!" is reasonable too, right?

To get this phone, it's a 2 year contract at a cost of $60 per month, it's a $60 plan if phone included, separating the description is meaningless idiocy designed to fool, well fools - and it looks like it works.

Firstly, learn to use a full stop.

Secondly, noone here is fooled, we're well aware of the overall outlay of the plan. The semantics of the details are what's being argued, well mainly because you don't realise that one is not exactly like the other.

The main point here is between the 2 offers, at the end of each contract you'd have a $20/month difference, compared to the $9/month currently, hence 2 'plans'.

But if you feel the need to have everything simplified just for you, then maybe I'll just stop trying to correct you. I'll let you go back to playing on your unicorn.

  • as above ^

  • Better off going with Virgin for 1.5GB of data rather than the 6 months Netflix for the same price I think.

    • But you don't get unlimited Calls/SMS/MMS in Australia. Unlimited SMS/MMS overseas with Virgin on $60 plan

  • +1

Add $9 per month more gives 150 minutes of international talk and 3GB data. For me $69 per month seems more value for money as 500 MB is not good enough.

  • Better off going with Virgin (Owned by Optus) and get 1GB extra data when buying online.

    • BUT you don't get unlimited calls with Virgin on $60 plan

      • To each their own, some may prefer extra data over calls

  • 500MB

That's about 3 minutes of internet time for me.

    • +2

      "Internet"

    • @2.7MiB/sec, that will be a very high quality video!

  • I would take it if it had 1GB per month - 500MB is not a lot of data.

  • 500mb on 4G last like what? A day?

    • I cannot fathom how people use so much data, I have 4G and 2.8GB/Month and barely scratch 1-1.5GB/Month.

      • +4

So admittedly 500MB is not enough? Even for yourself

        • Actually my old plan was 500MB, and it was enough. I just have more data now because I got my carrier to price-match another.

    • +1

It doesn't go any quicker than 3g if you don't use it any more than you normally would have.

  • Not that great to be honest. Can't believe that I had missed out on the Telstra deal.

    • +2

If you have another Telstra service, you can get a $40 data share plan, unlimited calls / SMS and either an M8 / G5 or 5C handset (included with 24 month contract). Data comes from the primary service and you pay $10 per GB for extra data. I discovered this and went for it after missing out on the other recent deal. You need to ring them to get it, it's not on the Website.

      • Is that a postpaid service you need to have with them? What handset are 5c?

Sounds good if they offered Samsung.

        • iPhone 5C I'm assuming, G5 is Samsung Galaxy S5

      • How does this work out in terms of price and usage for an S5?

        • $40 bolt on gives unlimited calls/sms. The HTC One M8, GS5 and 5C are included in the cost. You can also take up a Galaxy Tab A, or if you're lucky, a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 for an extra $15 on top of that. No included data for the tablet. You will need an existing plan with Telstra that has share capabilities to do this since the sim's involved are not "base" plans, but additional share sims that tap into the main plan's data allowance

      • @mostlygordon When did you sign up for this plan? What did you say to them? I have asked them about that recent deal cause it wasnt due to expire til 30 June and they keep telling me to check the website.

        • I had all sorts of hassles and had the order cancelled. They have eventually offered me the original $45 deal without the mobile, no contract, but they gave me a premium number and I didn't have to port my prepaid. Oh well, the only way to get Telstra 4G unlimited calls for under $95…

    • Which Telstra deal you referring too?

  • 500mb going to cause issues. I don't think its enough.

  • Can anyone who owns a S6 tell me, is the internal memory partitioned into "internal" and "sdcard"? In other words, is all of that space available for apps, or does the phone think there is an SD card inserted (which you can't install apps onto)?

I've owned two 32GB phones with no SD slot now, and both of them only allowed 2GB for apps, while the rest was treated by the phone as an SD card. I really hate this. It seems all non-expandable phones have this problem of not much space available for apps, despite all of it being internal memory.
