So this has been running for 10 hours so far…I notice every time I make a burger (or edit it) the number in the URL goes up like a counter. It's around 911,000 right now.
So let's say approx 2 million entries/day, and a cap of 3,000 prizes/day (100,000/35)
That's a 1 in 666 chance of a prize.
If it takes you 15 seconds to make an entry, that's nearly 3 hours of trying to get a prize.Of course, this could all be wrong…

I tried repeating your combination but no luck. It doesn't seem like the combinations matter, just a random win.
Do you think, or are certain prizes allocated to make ups?There's a of of possible combinations.
I did consider that. I think the possible combinations are 3x5x8x7x8= 6720. Doesn't seem to match the amount of prizes though and I would have expected some mention in the fine print if that was the case.
Can multiply every ingredient 3 times, besides the buns. So its actually 3x15x24x21x24 = 544,320 combinations :)
@djmatt24: I'm not very good at maths so correct me if I'm wrong.
There's 3 buns, then max 3 cheeses of a total of 6 cheeses (so 18 combinations), then 9 meats (but up to 10 max on burger). Meats are able to be added 0,1,2 times.
For salads there is 8 ingredients but up to 10 max on burger. Salads are able to be added 0,1,2,3 times.
Sauces are 3 max from 9 options. Can add 1 sauce up to 3 times.
Don't really how to calculate that though.
@verapa: The more I think about it the harder it seems to calculate the number… You can have three cheeses, but it can be the same times three or three different so that number goes up a lot… Same with everything else except the buns… I'm sure the number of variants is huge.

5 cheese up to 3 choices so thats, you can pick 3 cheese, 2 cheese, 1 cheese or no cheese. Picking all 3 cheese would give 5 to power of 3 choices 125 combinations, picking 2 would be 25 combinations, picking 1 is 5 combinations, and 1 combination for no cheese.

I can tell you its a huge number. Picking 10 different mains such as angus paddy and 9 other items already gives you
1,073,741,824X combinations.Once you multiple them you get a huge number.
So that would be why none of my combos are working then ;) This is the dam coke comp all over again.
I failed every time as well but I think no winning combination is likely to have 10 mains or 10 salads. A max of 2 each i would imagine.
I chucked that into wolfram and got 110,718,635,670,762,070,996,980 (regular calculator wouldn't cut it). That's 110 sextillion or 110 thousand billion billion possible combinations.
well my maths was wrong
because if i pick bacon + angus it would be the same as picking angus + bacon. Technically its the same burger but the ingredients are layered differently
and i forgot to add 1 for the sauce.
The ingredients are always positioned the same regardless of the order you pick them
I think you were mostly right. However, your calculation doesn't adjust for the fact that you can choose the same ingredient multiple times. e.g. max of 2 angus, or max of 3 bacon. In your calculation you assumed that once you choose one ingredient, you cannot choose it again. Which just makes this even more complicated. Regardless, it's a massive number (even bigger than 110 sextillion)

Just a bit of info for everyone who has won a prize but have not received their email… I called Mcdonalds customer support and the lady told me that they have a technical glitch which means that some people are not receiving their emails but this should be sorted in a few days and they will be sending the email then. 2nd chance draw to be held at 2pm (AEST) 21/9/15 at 6/3 Central Ave, Thornleigh NSW 2120.
So pretty much most prizes will be won via draw, and I'm up to 50 entries now of the total 91372 entries (1001372 - 910000)
Its going to have to start spewing out prizes soon, for a 36 day comp there's next to nothing gone!

Yum, I just ate mine. The Angus burger was lovely, much different to the normal burger I get (Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, etc) and I had Parmesan cheese on mine which made it taste awesome. I'll definitely give this another go. Oh, and the coke and fries were large size.
