  • My local Woolworths resorted to giving this stuff away the other day they were that desperate to get rid of it all

    • +4

My local Woolies has a sign at the entrance that says "It is a condition of entry to this store that you will take some of this useless 'Stars' stuff with you when you leave"! I caught the bloke at the checkout trying to stuff a domino staircase in with my shopping! :-)

still way over priced. not a deal.

    • Over priced? these things are AWESOME!

      • fair price would be -10c. im not taking away woolworths rubbish for nothing.

The tin can ones are a bargain at 50c. Use it to store anything, like the sewing kit

    • +5

Can also double as the 'Essential OzBargainer' collector's tin! Contents:

      • Eneloops
      • Micro SD Cards
      • Sewing Kits
      • Chromecasts
      • Udemy courses
      • Amazon ebooks
  • Not many left, but our local had them for 50c too. So prob nation wide!

  • Does anyone know where I can possibly get some dominoes to complete my set? Sorta been lazy about it and there aren't many people swapping now.

    • What do you need? May be able to help.

      • 2,4,8,10,11,17,18,20,21,26,27,34,36,44

        • So all of them? I remember seeing these selling on eBay.

        • @sparkyglo:

They left this FAR too late to get rid of these.

    • Think they literally found them out the back. While ago now.

  • Didn't they stop selling the dominoes about 6 months ago ???

    • Mid April.
And Woolies never sold the dominoes. But there were some lowlifes out there trying to cash in on it!

      • it's collectible, so it has value for some people. no need to say 'lowlifes' ( I don't have it btw).
do you think parents who told their kids to ask for extra dominoes are lowlife, eventhough they knew they not deserve to get it?

        • Personally speaking, I feel that you are if you're trying to profiteer from a child's emotions. But then again, that's what this whole promotion was!

Either way, it was great to see this promotion bring out the best in people by either swapping or simply giving away those that were needed by others. Even Woolies themselves should be commended on organising the swap day and giving away the excess stock for free!

        • Sorry at my locals they ran out weeks before the promotion ended. You buy things to get dominoes to be told we have none, not we ran out. Not truthful. Not run well. Talking about actual dominos. Disappointed kids. Wrong. My view.

    f$%king landfill.

woolworths - the unnecessary junk people.

I remember giving away, and then throwing out the Top Gear stickers when I worked for Petrol. Well done, corporate geniuses

    • the Top Gear stickers

I remember getting some, giving them to the kids, and them throwing them straight in the bin…

    • they would have given each other huge pats on the back + bonuses when one of them passed off the concept (pilfered from one of their underlings) as their own.

      geniarses

  • I want a wheelie bin full of those domino's

  • Kinda pointless without the dominos.

    • Surely it works with any dominos.

    • Explains why they haven't been able to sell them. Like hello Woolies.

    • Actually no. My 3yo uses the bridge for his cars and trains (hence why I bought another). And as others have mentioned, a tin case for 50c could have many good uses!

  • Creative recycling :) love it.

Another FAIL from the Share Value Destroyers People ^_^

    • Where was the fail… the dominoes or just these accessories?

      • -1

The fail is the stupid promo stunts Woolies likes to pull such as stickers, dominos, cards, etc? Remember the Jamie Oliver dinnerware promo? Lol yeh they still can't get rid of the stock at 75%+ off rrp.

How about O'Brien and co just concentrate on selling food/drink competitively than continually running Woolworths into the ground :-)

        • they copycat this kind of promo from asia. kids love it, then their parents follow suit with more money to spend!

      • The fact they didn't have enough stock of the dominoes i would say. They had loads of these products but kids couldn't finish their collection. They ran out well before it was to end. Bit unfair for kids trying to get the whole set.

        • bit unfair for parents shelling out $10,000 for a complete domino set. LOL

Can I say that I feel this promotion was a roaring success for Woolies. The amount of interest and interaction amongst the parents on Facebook, and the amount of parents I know that drove past a Coles to go to Woolies (including myself) just shows how much of an impact this promo had on the daily/weekly shop.

Yes, clearly they made too many accessories for them by the amount that are left over. I guess they thought that kids would actually want to play and stack the dominoes. Most I know of simply sit in their case.

As for the kids that missed out, it is a shame, but Woolies did their best by promoting and hosting a swap meet where they gave away any excess stock they had. They also donated a couple of staff member's wages for the day in hosting the meet. Not to mention that there was an abundance of support from parents on various Facebook sites, including Woolies own swap site. I myself went down to the swap to grab some needed pieces for friends to complete their sets.
No, this is the one promotion that Woolies actually got right!

        Interesting.

  • Maybe someone can take the whole lot and use each album as a large domino piece…
