Cheapest Way to Buy Bunnings Gift Cards

I'm after some Bunnings Gift Cards as a gift for a friend who's currently in the process of having a house built. What would be the cheapest way to purchase them?

Masters is out of the question as the only Masters in Adelaide is quite a distance away.

Thank you!

  • If you have entertainment book membership or an account with cashrewards, you can get 5% off woolies gift cards (egift cards or plastic ones), which you can use to purchase bunnings gift cards if they sell them at woolies. You can get 500 dollars worth of gift cards at a self service checkout at a time (it's a system limit).

    • purchase bunnings gift cards if they sell them at woolies

Is this for real? Woolworths selling Wesfarmers cards?

      • Well I wasn't sure that they were, but you could try the same trick with coles gift cards at coles if you could get your hands on 5% off those somehow.

buying them using one of the 5% off paypass cards

Why not just give them cash? I don't see the difference other than restricting their choice to a store. Either way they will the know the value so..

  • wait for all these AMEX deals for coles group gift card purchases. line them up in ducks e.g Myer, Liqourland, Vintage Cellar, Target etc. Once got enough buy the hell all at coles

    • 9/10 Coles cashiers/self-service attendants won't let gift cards be bought with gift cards. If you find a cashier that allows it then you're one of the lucky ones :)

    • I do this all the time. Self check-out machines have always worked for me. Just don't look suspicious and attract the stink-eye of staff.

  • OP, if you want to give them a great present that will cost you nothing and save them hundreds (maybe even thousands), then setup an ABN and register for a PowerPass, then register your friend as a contractor under your ABN and give them their own PowerPass card as a present :)

PowerPass holders get 5% off across the board at Bunnings.

    • which they use with the voucher bought with a paywave discount card.

        Exactly. Double dipping :)

    • PowerPass holders get 5% off across the board at Bunnings

Just wanted to correct this, I am a PowerPass holder and unfortunately it isn't 5% across the board, also another PowerPass holder I spoke to said the same - the discount only applies to some items, I'm not sure how Bunnings decide which products are discounted or not though.

    • How hard is it to setup a Powerpass? I had no probs getting a trade acct at Masters. Just needed an ABN. But I'm not a "tradie".

      • Bunnings have exactly the same process. Just need an ABN :)

today i purchased some bunnings cards using discounted e-gift coles cards using self-serve checkouts

    • So it works with Coles e-gift cards? Did the staff come over to you to authorise the transaction? I tried to use this Coles egift card to buy Coles Myer giftcard but was rejected by the staff.

      • no authorisation was needed, no staff involvement was required. this was using the newly introduced self-serve checkout system

        • I have tried doing this a few months ago but it alerted the staff to come over and he told me that I couldn't use egift card. I shall try it again tonight. I need some discounted Bunnings gift cards

        • @sharethelove:
Buy it with other grocery items then they can't refuse the transaction.

        • @mmd: I did, I had other groceries with the gift card but the staff rejected it and took it off the system.

        • @sharethelove:
Interesting; I have bought many Bunnings cards (combine with other groceries for better success), and have always gone through a human checkout. Never had any issues - I try and go through the younger looking checkout ppl tho.

        • @mmd: hahaha! Thanks!

  • Just try different Woolworths, some let you do it, some is not.

  • Or buy them from IGA.
