I surprised people are buying from here considering they have jacked up prices on all items especially runners and sneakers.

Plus the American dollar is very strong compared to our Aussie.

It was good 3 years ago, terrible now.

    • What would you suggest as an alternative?

      • Would Amazon be a better deal atm?

      • wait for sales in our local stores.

as an example i previously used to buy nike runners (tn's/shox/90's) for $150AUD delivered.

Now they are charging $149 USD ($204 AUD) Runners only + $39 USD shipping ($53 AUD) = $257 AUD

these shoes are $220-$235 max (RRP) in OZ. You dont have to wait 2+ weeks to get them and no need to worry about getting damaged shoes, which has happened to me 4 times. I had complained and EB did nothing to resolve.

Now i laugh at who ever gets sucked in by the 20% coupons.

Whilst their shipping is expensive always been quick for me. 3 days. Not 2+ weeks. Agree though generally not worthwhile these days.

        • Footlocker here (in WA at least) is charging $249-$259 for TN's. I was in Melb last week and stopped in the Nike Bundoora clearance outlet, picked up some decent Air Max (unsure what the model is- they're not 90's or TN's- in purple/orange with the bubble rear heel) for $140. They had the same model in grey with red higlights also. From memory all the TN's were $200. They had various Jordans for between $140-$160.

        • @COR80:

Still better to pay that price here in oz, then US

      • wiggle

  • Its still incredibly popular to use, if you can get together 2-3 people to order together.. or even just do a large order yourself once you factor in freight you still save alot more money than going to a retail store or even a online Australian retailer.

The Aussie dollar hurts the most for me really, at currently 70odd cents to a year ago being 99cents, buying a single pair of shoes isnt an option.

they've changed their shipping cost (to I think it was 35% of the total order) so it doesn't really matter how many people you get together anymore…

      • ^yep

      • Wow I didn't know that they had done that.. This changes everything! Damn :(

        • why do you think I'm super poor? :)

        • They put shipping cost up again? It used to be only 21% back in 2010 and then they put it up to 24%, then 28% and now it's 35%?

They does have Free Shipping on 25000+ products. (As advertised on their website)

        • +1

Pretty sure that's in the USA only.

@videoman: Sorry, my bad. It's been a while since last time I purchased from them.

      • Sure it includes any item?

I remember the more pairs of shoes i bought the higher the postage

Stopped buying from eastbay. Even with the 20% off once shipping is added it becomes unworthy.

The AUD is so damn crap

  • +1

Maybe cheaper to use free US shipping and then a re-shipper?

Seem to recall though on my last order, added a 2nd pair and the shipping didn't go up, 3rd pair and it went up slightly, definitely didn't go up linearly as a percentage of total order. Agree though, with the bad exchange rate, not really worth it these days.

    • Nope more expensive

  • Any bargains?
