Also the Logitech Harmony 350 TV Remote Control is $25.96 Click & Collect (Normally $44.98) -
    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tv-video-accessories/logitech-ha…
Has been cheaper but still not a bad price.

The Logitech 350 is on "sale" for $26 too. It's been cheaper before. This Philips one is a good deal though.

    • +3

Logitech is worth getting over the Philips especially if you have a generic brand TV or other equipment. As they don't always contain all the codes and if they do sometimes the buttons are placed all over the place.

      • Cheers for this. Been looking for a remote for my Soniq, and the Logitech appears to be compatible (according to Logitech anyways). Everything else I've tried has never worked.

Thanks OP, got one for my dying remote.

  • Was going to grab one but when I checked it doesn't have a code for the Aldi Bauhn TVs and PVRs. It does have one for Medion but not sure that this is correct so to be on the safe side think I will have to pass.

    • where can you check this, both my remotes broke last week, both vidid, one for tv and one for dvd/set-top

      • +2

Vidid is not listed in the code list, unless there is a generic code maybe. Can check here at back of manual: http://www.philips.com.au/c-p/SRP4004_86/perfect-replacement…

I got of chat with their support:

Me: I am looking at Philips SRP4004 remote
Me: Will this work for Soniq TV model number E32W13B

ACE: I checked my resources, apparently, the brand of your television is not on the list of codes for certain brands.
ACE: Although the brand is not on the list, you may use the generic code.
ACE: You may give it a try but there's no guarantee that it will work.
ACE: Every brand has specific 4-digit codes. If a brand is not on the list, you may just simply use 9,9,9,9 code.
ACE: Using ‘9999’ may result in a long setup (up to 15 minutes).
ACE: Herewith is the link for the manual that may help:

        • @ak 27:

Yeah i have a Soniq as well. Not sure of the model number and not at home so can't check. I have a Philips soundbar and a Soniq TV and the Philips has its own remote so it would be nice if this worked and i could just use this thing to control both the TV and soundbar, but it sounds like it's a gamble on Soniq. Hmmm.. whether it's worth $10…

  • You think it will work with a kogan tv? Or will the logitech one? My kogan remote hasnt worked properly since getting tv

    • Perhaps it's a fault with the TV rather than the remote?

      • I've used my LG G3 as a remote for the tv for awhile and works fine so must be the remote

    • +1

Kogan remotes are crap mate, I got a replacement in one year and even that's really hard to operate :( will this Philips work with kogan?

Groupon has Philips SRP2008 remote for $9 plus postage. This deal is also by Dick Smith.
    Link here: http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/national-deal/dick-smith-107…

    Which remote would be better?

  • With these universal remotes do we need to have the original to program it?
Would be unfortunate if original remote just died for no reason

    • +1

I have the Logitech 350, you don't need the original remote to set it up.
It's programmed by installing software on your PC then connecting the remote via the supplied cable. It can also learn from an original remote if it's working.
Not sure about the Philips one.

      • Thank you sir

    • +1

No, you look up the Brand table and enter a code and it should work.

      • Thanks!

  • Spare remote for under 9 bucks?
Gotta be done. Good find OP

  • Do any of these universal remotes work with airconditioners?

    • +5

Yes they work in summer & winter.

      • +1

        Always a "smart" one!

    • +1

I manually programmed my Harmony 700 to work with my Carrier split-system air conditioner, and my Mistral ceramic heater (!)

These basic cheapies aren't quite up to the task of operating anything beyond your common-place TVs and associated AV equipment.

      • Wow. How do you program the remote to work with the aircon?

        • The harmony programming software lets you teach functions from the original remote into the Harmony (and assign them to various buttons on the remote, or otherwise have the functions as "soft" buttons that you use with the screen).

        • @xyron:

oh thats right. this i have heard of. thanks

  • This will work on a Philips soundbar? The stock one is kinda garbagey

  • If you have a Samsung TV, the OFA Samsung Replacement Remote is also in this sale for $22.27 and if you price one, it is around $59. Has learning, so button functions can be changed.

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tv-remote-controls/ofa-samsung-r…

    • I need a remote for my Samsung tv. Is this a good remote?

Bugger this remote is out of stock

      • I have one and like it.

For some reason purchase button is not appearing, but if you click on the button Check Store stock (two of my local stores have it in stock for example) and if a local store has stock, the purchase online and collect in store button appears…

        • Actually when I go out of the mobile site mode, I can see that there is stock. But I think I'll probably go with the Logitech harmony 350 as it's probably abit more versatile

  • can these remotes work with multiple TVs -different brand or you have to reprogram it for each TV?

  • I can vouch for it, it's a good remote and easy to programme.

  • +2

Best programmable remote I had was from jcar it was not cheap but did a lot and was easy to set up.
Unfortunately my wife has a habit of putting technology on her lap then standing up off the couch.

  • My Topfield 7160 pvr remote control is dead, how can I find out if the Logitech universal remote is compatible? Will these universal remote be able to do the function of original remote control e.g. Prog & Delete recordings, fast forward etc? my pvr is now full and I hv no way of deleting. Very limited function when operating manually on pvr. Should I get a new topfield remote instead?

  • Back up to $39.98 now:(

  • I bought 1 on Monday, paid , and haven't heard anything with regards to a order confirmation?
