VS Sassoon i-Trim Precise Beard Trimmer $54.95 (50% off RRP $109.95) @ Shaver Shop [Bondi, NSW]

110

Bought one of these from Shaver Shop Bondi (NSW) today. Price on their website is $109.95, but they had a big pile of them at the front of the store with a 50% off sign, brought it down to $54.95.

Model number is VS7895A.

Not sure if this deal is for this store only, or if other Shaver Shop's will match it.

EDIT: $59.95 at Shaver Shop Sydney CBD store (thanks KiwiJase) if Bondi is too far out of the way.

  • Anyone with thick beard who can recommend this one or any other one? I got this one http://www.shavershop.com.au/online-store/beard-trimmers/rem… and its (profanity) sheeeiiiit, waste of money! Also got some older one but the battery is (profanity) and cant do half my beard before its flat…

    • This one is amazing. I charge mine once a month max. I don't trim my beard every day, but it gets used an amazing amount for the charge, plus it chews through anything on my face. :)

      • Just read it only does up to 5mm :( I usually go with around 14/16 mm :(

        • Ah yeah, I guess it's more of a short-beard/stubble trimmer. I just copied the title from their website. If you've got a full man-beard, then you'll need to look for a different model.

My old VS Sassoon one went upto 15mm, but never used it at that length. I normally go around 2.4mm so this one seemed like a good deal for me.

I've never understood why a majority of "bread trimmers" are called that when they are at most, suitable for week-old stubble.

          Stubble =/= Beard.

It's amazing that the manufacturers of hair care products cannot make that distinction. Has Remington or Wahl or VS or any of these clowns seen a proper beard in their life, or do they just decide for everyone that a beard can only be stubble or that bum fluff on some 19-year old hipster's chin?

You cannot use a 5mm guard on a full-grown beard; it's ridiculous, it's like trying to prune a 2 metre hedge with an electric carving knife. That and the actual clipper head is always so damn narrow, like it's designed exclusively for a woman's landing strip or something.

        • @Amar89:
If the trimmer is used to maintain the neckline of a beard what would that be called then? Which is what I use my beard trimmer for and I'm sure most others with beards do…I guess facial hair trimmer would be the most appropriate name.

But yeah obviously nobody with a full beard (2-3 months) could maintain the length with something like this, you have to use scissors. I doubt anybody with a full beard would get confused by the name of the product and expect to trim it with something like this.

The last VS Sassoon trimmer I bought was a piece of junk. The battery was nickel-metal hydride and lasted about a month before it only started to last like 30 seconds per charge. Lasts about 10 seconds now.

I wouldn't buy any VS Sassoon trimmer unless it contained a lithium battery (if they make them), and even then I'd be wary and probably go for a better brand like Philips.

Yeah I have this thing, I cant recommend it enough.

And at 50 bucks its a steal

  • VS Sassoon, I cant recommend. I bought one and had it replaced under warranty. The second time it failed within warranty I contacted customer service again and no replies back. I gave up in the end as it wasn't worth the hassle. I now use a Phillips model. I recommend it but after a year and a half it's not too sharp, but don't know how to change that.

  • I bought one of these 2 and a half years ago. It's still going alright, but I don't use it often these days. Pretty reliable IMO.

Related, anybody know where to get replacements heads for it? Mine is getting a bit blunt I think.

Scored the same deal from Shaver Shop in Chadstone last year, FYI the max is 5mm and the guardless is 0.4mm, you should be able to haggle for a free sample of shaving oil.

  • I have one of these, highly reliable, batter holds good charge, only issue is that because of the design, it doesnt cut the mustache hair just under the nose, you have to flip the cover off and trim it manually, otherwise, would recommend!

  • I've got one - its decent but you have to be gentle with the pressure, I snapped one of the hard plastic bits on it because I was pressing too hard. Managed to repair it with superglue and it seems fine now. As stated above, 1 charge lasts for ages.

  • Wish this was available online … Bondi too much out of the way.

  • I have one of these (older model) and for that price, it's awesome. For those interested in parts, my plastic guide broke when I dropped the trimmer but spares can be bought from Conair directly… They are in Frenchs forest.

To be honest though I think my guide cost about $20… Not much more for a brand new unit now :)

  • I had the previous model, which I really liked till it died. Got one of these as a replacement and it's…. fairly good. It doesn't seem to catch (cut) all the hairs as well as the previous model. Otherwise, it's fine. It lasts quite a while on a charge, I just plug it in every 10-20 uses I think.

  • Its 45% off at Sydney CBD store, I bought one just now for 59.95. No pile of them out front, just a shelf special.

Only limitation of the product is that it doesn't use LION batteries like other (more expensive) ones.
