Taking Screen Protector to Get Fitted into Phone

I bought a glass screen protector online but refuse to do it myself because I always end up stuffing up the process or there's dust clogged somewhere

Do you think it's stupid to take it down to a kiosk or small shop and ask them to do it for you?

Well if you refuse to do it yourself then you kind of have no other choice. Unless of course you just ask a friend to do it for you.

I always buy spares because no matter how careful I am at cleaning and applying, a piece of dust will find it's way under there. But when I remove the first protector, it lifts off the dust and I quickly apply the second one.
It's a waste but at least I'm not paying someone else to do it.. and who knows, the first one might go on without a problem!

What if the shop screws up putting it on? Putting it on can be quite simple with the following tips:-

    • use a lint free cloth to wipe it clean. Never use facial tissue.
    • After wiping, to ensure a super clean screen use sticky tape to clean any remaining dust off the screen. To do this, tear off about 8cm of sticky tape and stick the front to end so that it forms a ring with the sticky side facing out. Put your fingers through the insides of the ring and slowly use it to clean the screen by sticking the screen and then pulling it out. Repeat this until your screen is dust free. Shine a torchlight at an angle to see if there's any dust on the screen.
    • In putting on the protector, don't just stick it on. Rather use sticky tape on the 2 corners diagonal of each other of the protector to give you better control. Once the protector covers the screen fully, only then place it down onto the screen gently. Squeeze out any bubbles with a credit card or something similiar. Once done, only then you remove the screen protector's outer film.
  • Same here. I'm also hopeless at installing screen protectors on mobile phones. You can try getting one of the stands in the shopping center to install it for a price. If not then you may have to try one of the many sellers at the major weekend markets.

Here in Sydney I got a glass screen protector supplied and installed on my iPhone for $15 from one of the many stands selling mobile accessories at Paddy's Markets. Should be similar markets in your area. The extra cost was worth it over doing it myself.

    • $15? lol.. on ebay its about $1 for a glass screen protector for iPhone.

It;'s not hard to put on at all, in fact the glass ones are easier than the plastic ones because they are more solid so its easier to line up the edges.

      • LOL. $1 is for the cheep plastic film. Glass one is listed for iPhone 5 series $4.99 or $8.99 for 2. iPphone 6 series $5.99 or $10.99 for 2 from that AU ebay seller.

        • i got a $1 glass protector that was published on ozbargain a couple of days ago. ill try and self install though. im just not confident haha

  • Do it in a clean room at uni if you have access to one. Or steam up your bathroom.

clean the phone screen with a cloth.

remove the backing of the protector and place one corner of the protector in position on the phone screen..

have that corner closest to you.

move your pointer finger left and right pressing down on the protector as you very slowly apply the protector to the screen.

    • Thats for the plastic ones.

if its a tempered glass just clean screen, remove backing, line it up put it down then tap and hold down in the middle. easy

  • The tempered glass ones are so easy to put on, almost impossible to (profanity) up if you just clean the screen first.

got it with success! cheers guys

  • if its a quality screen protector like Nilkin then I reckon a 2 year old could put it on and make it look good. Seriously realy glass screen protectors are not like those thin film ones.

And I should read the final post before posting ;)

    • mine seems to be a cheap knock off. but eh it works well my screen is glass protected

  • You can wash with water or saopy water to remove dust or dirt. Its a pain but works. First one i did was washed and applied 12 times. Now i get it in one go, twice at worst.
