Pillow - Heat reduction

Good morning,

I'm after a high quality pillow & I have across the following two on sale, which have the added bonus of moderating your temperature, which is always a problem for me.

Has anyone used either of these or are they just a gimmick? I'm veering towards the gel version due to the 10yr warranty but I do like the sound of some NASA certfied tech in my pillow though :)

  • I'm interested, but I don't understand how these can work. Why isn't the gel going to heat up?

If there really was a substance available that removed heat without using power, how come we still have refrigerators and cooling systems?

  • I beleive the gel works but it's probably marginal heat reduction at best.

I actually have the dunlopillo gel mattress protector heater reducer & notice no difference… But I get very hot at night and so willing to try anything & this seems a decent pillow too.

  • The best thing we found for overheating was a water bed. A big heat sink that you set the temperature on. The problem is they come with their own issues. Which is why ours is now in the storage area.

  • OP get an Japanese tatami mattress. Uncomfortable - Yes but you will benefit long term. Forget pillows - they are anyways not good for you. Personally, I love my memory foam mattress and pillow.

  • You can get a "tatami" like pillow cover. I've seen them in a few of the larger asian stores (though it might come in a set with a mattress topper). From memory, i think the top half is like a tatami (Bamboo) and the bottom is cotton or polyester. Just pop it under your standard pillow case.

  • Interesting ideas. I think just need to move and get air con in my next place!

  • I used to use a product called Chillow, it was pretty cheap from memory… But that's going back 10 years or so.

Worked well and used it for many years, but eventually found I no longer needed it and stopped.
