Panasonic Eneloop Mobile Booster $9.98 C&C @ Dick Smith

290

Yep it's back, but thanks to the xiaomi deals recently, this device is losing popularity. However considering that this has been over $20 for the last month or so, still a good deal.

the eneloop era is over. Now is the era of microsd!

I bought one last time, it is good and handy, except

    1. I cannot connect the usb connector to my macbook, it is not designed for the slim laptops… you will need a usb hub (using one right now) or a wall charger.
    2. dies after charging my S4 around 90% , recharging it would require 5-6 hours using a pc, 2-3 hrs using a wall charger..
    • I'm trying to get a fix on your idea of good … did it actually work on any device you own LOL?

      • +1

it was obvious I think, it did work for me and I regularly use it that's why it is good and handy, however just wanted to highlight the connector's usb head design issue and the battery's capacity and charging time in practical terms…

    • +2

Mine plugs into anything I want to plug it into. If it didnt, Id use a USB cable and it would then fit fine.
Its a 2650mah battery. It wasnt hard to work out its not going to recharge most phones 20 times. It does not make power. There are always losses, if your phone requires 2650mah, it will not recharge 100% from the battery in the unit.

For $10, these are a bargain. If you want more power, pay the money asked for the 10000mah units, and risk fakes with crappy Chinese batteries inside. Panasonic make their own batteries, as did Sanyo, these will have one or the others li ion inside and decent circuit design.

      • You could use this to power a G1W dashcam for ~6h, which is about the same amount of recording time available with a 32GB memory card. Perfect when leaving the car unattended in a carpark for a few hours.

        • Expect if you park in summer outside in the sunlight the battery in this unit would die pretty quickly.

  • FYI it's actually the QE-PL103 model. The picture is correct but the description covers the PL102. Picked one up last time and can confirm this.

I only used mine for the first time last night, it wasn't charged fully (on red) and while I was streaming some videos it charged my phone about 15% in a relatively short amount of time. iPhone 6.
For the price and what it is I am happy.

    • What's the major difference between the models?

  • The zero to five dollar saving depending on price just isn't worth the additional hassle of charging and replacing batteries not to mention the poorer performance for me.

Why would you buy this vs. a Romoss type of charger?

    • +1

      Because Eneloops.

      • +1

Its not Eneloop powered. Its Eneloop branded. Inside is a li ion battery, Eneloops are nimh.

It is a Romoss type charger, just smaller and more convenient if you dont need 10000 or whatever mah the various others are.

        • Oh I see my apologies now it makes more sense as a bargain lel, thanks.

  • Thanks Op. bought 1 for wife's phone.

    Guess who's back, back again
Mobile Booster's back, tell a friend
    Guess who's back,
    guess who's back,
    guess who's back,
    guess who's back
    guess who's back
    guess who's back…

    • Yeah its back baby !!!

  • I bought 3 lately. No regrets.

  • Great deal, bought two and I'll pick them up tomorrow

Could someone please tell my how this is superior to the USB charger that feeds on AA Eneloops, like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-LED-USB-4-AA-External-Batte…

    • +1

4 AA Batteries are very unlikely to charge up your phone even 50%. The electrical gurus here can probably explain the voltage conversion losses etc. Also its a very clunky solution. Its bigger and it looks like its going to fall apart within a year.4 eneloops and that one will probably cost you $10 anyway.

  • I got one for $17 delivered and it is totally worth it.
Reputable brand, lithium ion battery is the best for recharging, and the removable cable is an innovative design to use for both input and output.
Provides exactly 100% for my Galaxy S3. Solidly built and only 120g.

  • Seems to be expired. It's now $22.90.
