Hyundai i20 2015 or Kia Rio 2014?

Hi guys,
I'm buying a second hand car but can't make a decision between these two :

2015 i20 Hyundai with 70Km , Manual, 3 door, Rego until 07/2016, price is :$10K (Seller asked for $12.5K)
2014 Kia rio with 5000Km , Manual, 5 door, Rego until 01/2016, price is :$9500(Seller asked for $11.5K)

Appreciate if you guys helping me with that decision or even these price are good price or not ?

the Kia looks a nicer car to me.
do you need a 4 door car or a 2 door? (4 is handier)

I am thinking you like the Kia better but can't get out of your head that the i20 is just about brand new.

  • What's wrong with the i20 that they want out of it so soon? Or is it a dealer demo?

  • I would pick the Rio. More doors, less km, has probably depreciated more too, so there is less for you to lose when you do eventually re-sell it. It might have a bigger engine too?

    • 5000 > 70 lol

But on a car, it's basically new.

Oh okay I thought it meant 70,000.

Go the Kia its a much better built, has better features, drives better and in every way possible is a much better car.

Bloody neither, get a decent car.

  • +Kia ..7 year unlimited km warranty.

  • I20 70Km - they must have won it in a lottery. My dealership would be almost that distance from my home. Is this correct?

The price on both cars is the same. The rego for the I20 would equal the difference.

The i20 is built in India and according to car sales is being discontinued

Looks like The Kia maybe the better bet

  • Thanks guys for all your oponion,
I just need a car at the moment and 2 or 4 door is not a matter, but i agree this is a very important feature when I have to sell it .
Yes they mentioned that they won that Hyundai.
Now , the problem is i have paid $100.00 for that Hyundai. What should i do now???

    • I will give you $200 for it, and you make 100% profit :-)

  • i20 - made in india

    rio - made in korea

there's no question… sit in one and check out the build and finish… if you still buy the i20, you need professional help

  • Your $100 is a holding deposit. You can still choose to forgo it if you wish or if you have a change of mind. If lucky, they may return it; otherwise, you just lose $100, meaning the total cost is now 9.6k for the Rio. Don't look at it as $100 lost but as an enabler to make a more informed decision.

    • I think you're right, i didn't think from this side

  • What colour are they? This is the most important question to ask yourself. after that, does it have Bluetooth?

    • They both have Bluetooth and usb reader, hyundai is grey and rio is Black.
Is that make any different on the price?

      • Comment was meant in sarcastic tone, at the end of the day there is little difference between these 'appliance' cars. Not a lot of love for them. Pick YOUR favourite of the two. (Black is a shocker to keep clean, silver/grey doesn't need washing much at all.)

  • I have a may 13 rio 5 door. Purchased brand new early last year.

It's not bad overall but lacks so much torque so is completely and utterly useless up any sort of incline.

Would recommend getting a slightly larger car as it is tiny inside. Maybe a corolla?

    • This is my second car and will be used just for work, I don't want to spend too much on car as these is replace of the rental car.
Thanks for comment but Corolla is a bit over my budget.

      • Fair call. I'd just highly recommend a slightly bigger motor if you can budget it. The 1.4 is good around town, just not up hills or over 90km/h.

Otherwise, it's a pretty good car and (I think) certainly looks pretty good from the outside.

        • Thats right Kia has 1.6l engine compare to 1.4 for i20

        • Um no base kia has a 1.4.

Lol, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Probably same motor as i20 as kia is owned by Hyundai

        • @alphaau:

the 1.4 cant be that bad with a manual? it is a 6 spd

with the 4 spd auto it would be dire but IMO if you NEED auto you're spending $2,000 more anyway so you may as well get the 1.6 or a larger car
