  • What's the battery life like?

    • 12.5 hours according to the video.

      • But only 9 hours in real life testing according to at least one review (Gizmodo) but still excellent

        • It is hard to comment on battery life because it depends on what you are doing with the machine. I probably get a couple of evenings out of it but I'm not consciously tracking it; I just plug it in whenever it tells me the battery is low. You can play around with various Battery saving settings if this is an issue.

  • I am a fan of my Surface Pro 3 but I was recently looking online for a friend who wants a similar device. This looks like a great deal and price smashes the similar spec'd SP3.

I originally told her to maybe wait a month to see if a SP4 is announced. But this looks like it might be worth pulling the trigger for.

    Great find.
    Thanks

Sp3 have some advantages over this one. That is 500g lighter(with keyboard) and have better screen resolution. But resolution is not that important. Weight is 33% less and that is very important. If you are looking for a tablet than this bad choice. However for a laptop it is much better than surface pro 3 and cheaper too.

This is very portable but surface is more portable. And if your friend is apple person than you should check the david jones macbook deal too(cheaper than this but no tablet mode, no touch screen and no windows)

      • Active stylus? I am sorry, I tend to drool over active stylus support, because I use that function a lot (though, it's more of an optional thing for many people).

Currently typing this message on one of these babies; same spec and I got it for roughly that price. JB Hi-Fi have reasonably regular 15% off sales. I rejected the MacBook due to the adapter and I prefer the windows operating system. I looked around at various laptops and decided on this one; I have not regretted it since.

    Breakdown:
    - The foldability factor does not get used very often, but it is nice to have it for when you do want it;
    - The touch screen is good for swiping between screens, etc and the onscreen touch keyboard is quite useable. (Hunt and peck I wouldn't try touch typing with it).
    - The hard drive is a little small, but I am currently looking for a decent size SD card at a reasonable price to do the expansion. (Yes, I am looking at you Tightarse.)
    - I have updated to Windows 10 and, fingers crossed, it appears to be working fine with that as well.
    - It has a good responsive keyboard; my only quibble being the backlight makes the letters/numbers almost invisible if activated in normal light.
    - The screen is vibrant, with good viewing angles.
    - It is quick to boot up and shutdown.
    - It has a very sleek case and design.
    - The touchpad is the size of a maxipad; quite literally. However, it doesn't seem to get in the way when you type. (I am a pretty good touch typist). The click keys are a bit clunky, but I tend to use the double tap mostly anyway.

    Recommended.

    Hope this helps.

  • Wish they'd bring these out with an i5 or even i3. prefer better battery life as what I do on a laptop wouldn't tax the lower CPUs.

  • The Asus Ultrabook at Dick Smith is way better deal than this for $1250 or so with better graphics specs. I wouldnt pay another $350+ to flip my screen around and expose the keyboard..

Your choice, mine is different. If I want to warm my backside by the radiator I convert to tablet mode, if I want to watch a video I convert to tent mode. I haven't got the Asus, but I do have the HP Spectre.

  • Intel graphics for all that money not even NVIDIA and HP is notorious to break in 2 years. Asus is better.

  • Can anyone tell me was this just a limited time sale? I can't find it for that price on their website.
