Looking for a Flight (SYD->VANCOUVER) from Aug 22nd 2015 to Feb 20th 2016

Hey all

I'm in a bit of a tough pickle. Due to a recent US visa denial and all sorts of mess, I can't actually stop at any US airports - they require a visa which I think I will be denied for, even if it's a 1-2 hr stop. Unfortunately, this has made finding flights a total hell.

I'm looking to visit Vancouver, Canada for a total of six months or so. I'm looking to leave Sydney from any time between Aug 22nd to Sept 1st.

I would like to return to Sydney by Feb 2016 or so.

The biggest problem that I've been having however is that I can't seem to find any decent flights that don't stop in the US.

I am more than happy to stop anywhere else in the world - but even then, can anyone help me find reasonable prices for these flights?

I am willing to spend as much as is needed, however I would really appreciate any help that I can get from OzBargainers for someone who's struggling to sort this out.

Thank you all in advance, please shoot any questions to me if you have any.

    Hi,
    Based on: http://optifly.com/?from=SYD&to=YVR
    and http://matrix.itasoftware.com/
most flights want to stop in USA.

There seem to be some direct SYD-YVR-SYD on Air Canada so have a search
    @ http://www.aircanada.com/au/en/home.html

Otherwise I'd suggest you use https://flightfox.com/
For a modest outlay you will get the best and most direct fare according to your needs.

    Try Air Canada
    daily direct Sydney (SYD) – Vancouver (YVR) 14h 15m 10:20 am – 7:35 am

Air NZ fly via Auckland to Canada. They are usually cheaper than Air Canada but takes longer.

You also have the option of flying via Asia. The best timing one is Korean Air but usually not that cheap. The Chinese airlines are usually the cheapest but takes forever to get there with often an overnight stopover required.

  • Can you share why u can't stop in the US? Leave out particulars if you want, but what is the general nature of the reason?

  • I don't think a couple of hours stop over in an airport is a problem is it? I could be wrong, but I didn't think you go through all the customs controls etc if you stay in the airport?? It's almost like an airport is "international waters"??
