Platypus Market City Sydney $49 Dr Martens Cherry Red

120

Just picked up a pair of these boots as part of Platypus's "Sneaky Sneaker sale" there are lots of styles and colors, Dr Martens, Palladium, Timberland, New Balance, Nike, Asics etc. Too many to list but most were at least 40% off.

Also overheard that 2nd pair is half price.

  • Platypus's "Sneaky Sneaker sale"

Since when do Doc Martens get categorised as sneakers

    • I wish I knew the answer, I was just glad up catch them on sale

  • were there plenty of sizes? (like size 6)

    • in the Reds I have highlighted UK9 was the smallest size available, but in the other styles and brands there was plenty of sizes available

    In store only right?

    • As far as I know yes, in store only.

      There is this online sale

      https://www.platypusshoes.com.au/sale

But I saw a lot more styles at the pop up store and they seemed to be better discounts.

  • i wonder if i rang them if they would be prepared to send an item.

  • That's a great price!!

    • great price alright! The retail on these from the Platypus website is $219

  • Need more info on this deal! When does it end? Any poster for inclusions or T&C's?

    • It was a pop up store in the shop space that used to be Glue up at Market City, I am back at work (I nicked off at my lunch break to visit). I didnt' see any T&C's and only overheard the "2nd pair half price offer" as I was rushing to get back to work a few blocks away.

  • holy shit theyre cheap. I got some for free from the ING/ The iconic voucher but I would gladly pay $49 for them! They're hard to break in though….

Perfect for kicking Police officers at anti-capitalism protests. Don't forget to scream rape when they pepper spray you.

+1 your way to balance it all out, your comment made me smile…where is the sense of humor among the board members?

  • Wow. Just wow. Nice find.

I have to credit a friend for pointing me in the direction…she got the "paint rub" version but mentioned I should have a look. I didn't realise the Cherry Red was this price until I took them up to the counter I thought I was getting a steal at $69 (which you can get the black smooth for).

      • I have wayyyyyyyyyyy too many boots already. Oh man. So. Much. Temptation.

but these are Docs and I refuse to wear my current pair cos they're British made and thus precious lol >_<

    • Hi, Any more stock left and many sizes? Thinking of checking it out tomorrow. Bargain at this price.

      • +1

The stock varied a lot depending on the style you are after. My room mate and I bought the last 2 red dr martens in UK 9 but there was size 8 and 10 in stock though.

        • Thanks for that. I'm looking for UK 10 or 11 so i might be in luck.

    • Congrats, I am considering going past again tonight after work to have a look at what else is left, not that I need more shoes.

They told me that they will add new items to their outlet when the stocks run low of their current offerings so it might be worthwhile to check them out again in a few weeks.

        • Thanks for the tip

Went there yesterday. Didn't get any Docs :( Was after a pair of plain smooth black but they didn't have any in my size (female 9). So sad. Great price though - not surprised they flew out the door. The dude said the only super cheap Docs they had in my size were the floral Docs. :S no thnx lol.

They still had plenty up the back of the other colours, it seemed… but those were from $109 up to $199. Not cheap enough for me, but still a good discount off RRP.

I wonder if they'll ever have a sale like this again… sigh.

Sorry to hear that you didn't find anything. I got through day one in the boots….I'm hoping that the leather will soften up a bit more

That's cool - I probably have way too many boots already so perhaps it was a good thing they didn't have what I wanted lol.

Forgot to mention: they did indeed have a "buy one, get a second pair for 1/2 price" sign up for everything in store too.

Judging by how hectic it was yesterday, I don't know how much stock they'd have left today/tomorrow/etc but you never know :)
