  • IR Receiver but no remote?

    • +1

Package contents states it comes with a remote..
      Package Contents: 1 x M8S+ TV Box, 1 x Power Adapter, 1 x Remote Controller, 1 x HDMI Cable, 1 x English Manual

      • cool - OP might want to add that to the specs list in the description.

      IR Receiver but no remote?

I'd prefer a learning receiver to the remotes that come with most of these boxes.

      • And a phone app.

But Op this isn't a reasonable price, its abgreat price for the specs IMHO. The gigabit ethernet is the winner for me.

  • Says $83.73AUD when I switch to AUD currency on the page.

/RantOn I will neg this deal because gearbest has been horrible to deal with. They have excruciatingly slow shipping and in my case my two orders didnt arrive. Contacted support multiple times and after three weeks they tell me its not in stock anymore. Absolutely ridiculous. /RantOff

I understand your frustration, but with most of these 'ship from China' online stores they rarely keep stock. They don't operate like a Harvey Norman with a warehouse, and they also don't have greedy doddering billionaire owners with political agendas. When enough orders come in, they go shopping (at their junk markets) and get a good bulk price then ship to you free (paid by Chinese govt). This is how they make money and this is why 3-4 weeks is the norm. If you're the only one who orders product X, and they can't find it, you'll get a refund. If you don't like it, don't buy from these places. Also - where else are you going to buy a no-name 4K Kodi box for under $90? I don't think its a reason to neg, it's just how it is.

        Hi Snoo

If they do what you say they do, then they should "Clearly" mention this. The product in question was a Ritech VR Glasses which was a deal posted here, and also on their main page as featured. Moreover, I checked with them "before" ordering and they confirmed this is in stock.

I understand how these shops work, and most Chinese companies I have dealt with have been great, including sellers on alibaba and aliexpress. Gearbest is just horrible at what they do, which is why I am calling them on it.

I had to contact them three times to find out on the order process over almost 4 weeks because my order status keeps saying processing. I would not have been so frustrated if they told me in a week or two that its out of stock - the frustration is I have to open support tickets each time I want to get an update.

        Thanks,

then ship to you free (paid by Chinese govt).

Paid for by Auspost. We get no money from China Post to handle their mail; and they're undercharging their customers for postage to drive up Chinese exports.

If you're the only one who orders product X, and they can't find it, you'll get a refund.

Honestly, I'd rather pay a couple of bucks more and get one off eBay, where there are consequences for vendors who don't deliver.

        • Paid for by Auspost.

I can't imagine Auspost agreeing to deliver so many packages for free. But there must be a subsidy via ChAFTA or some other agreement with a charge back. This we'll never know.

consequences for vendors who don't deliver

Vendors selling 1000's of products a month with 99.7% positive feedback is still a lot of unhappy customers, with little to no consequence.

Each to their own though, its just a risk people take to save a few $

          @snoo:

I can't imagine Auspost agreeing to deliver so many packages for free.

The deal with postage is, the postal company in each country receives money when a person in that country posts a package, but doesn't get any money when a package arrives from another country. For most countries, that's fine - the volume of mail going each way is about the same, so the losses on incoming mail are covered by the income from outgoing mail.

Since so much of China's mail is outgoing, and since China Post charge very little to send mail out of the country (to boost exports), Auspost (and other countries) take a loss every year on Chinese mail.

For a similar deal, try sending a postcard from Vatican City. The post office will charge you full international airmail rate, pocket the money, and then carry it 100m to the border for the Italian postal system to deal with.

        • @jong:

          interesting..

      • Ummmm… no

If a store says they have stock and can ship out in 3-5 days, then they need to honour this. If they do not have stock, they need to say as much, not make excuses and pretend like they are going to ship something out. Don't make excuses for borderline fraud please. And as for refunds, no, they do not actually provide any refunds, based on my numerous experiences with them. Paypal will provide a refund once the case is escalated.

It's not an issue of "if you don't like it, don't buy". It's an issue of fraudulent advertising and scummy behavior on the part of Gearbest. If they didn't constantly lie so much, people would be properly informed and avoid it like the plague.
