My roommate bought one that we used for 6 months on both tiles and carpet.

Good for a quick clean IN BETWEEN proper vacuuming. It doesn't have the strength to vacuum deeper into the carpet so it mostly just picks up dust and surface contaminants.

There spot clean does a circle in the spot and is quite useful.

There are a lot of cons. The device is quite loud given how small and weak the vacuum unit is. Hair gets caught in the brushes and affects performance. Coverage is average, and that's being nice. It needs to be used on open floors with no obstructions (it was our first house so we had little problem) but it still got stuck alot. It can't go up transfers between carpet and tiles and constantly got stuck under our couch. Its vacuum cycle is to hit edges after performing a semi-circle. Then those semi-circles get bigger and a lot of times the battery runs out before its finished.

We got the one with the home base for ~$200 or so and were disappointed in it and when we got a cheap bagless we used that instead.

Overall, good for the lazy spot vacuum or to clean up a room while you're out.

      nice review

    • Do you have pets?

      • +2

^Important. I'd honestly buy one just to entertain pets, or rather entertain myself watching pets react.

        Nope, didn't have any pets.

Don't know how true this story is, so take it with a pinch of salt, but some years ago I bought a similar Roomba clone and was busy bragging to a friend about how I'd never have to do vacuuming again (I had to eat my words on that claim).
She told me about her sister who had bought one of these devices, and eager to come home to a clean floor, had timed it to work whilst they were at work.
Unfortunately, the dog was not aware of this.

When the device started, it worried the poor dog so much that it pooped on the carpet.
The Roomba, (you can see where I'm going with this) through a combination of programmed duty and statistically bad luck, proceeded to smear the poop around the house.

        They bought a Dyson.

        • I have a cat. He'd just run outside when the robot vacuum cleaner started.

        • That happen friend of mine to in brand new house only had house 4 weeks.

    "Intelligent cliff sensor"
    Well about time.
We've already lost two pets and Grandma to that bottomless chasm near the TV.

    • Your family must be a pack of mountain goats. That, or you have serious sinkhole issues…

who's cliff and what is he doing to your family?

  • +2

Maybe he's uncle cliff who comes over when daddy's not home :)

  • For those of you who haven't owned one of these before.
    It's not a pet..
