Looking to replace my son's very old iPod Touch. 32GB or higher.
Really don't want to pay too much as he may be getting an iPad Mini for combined Christmas/Birthday present. Would be great too if I could get some advise on buying an iPad Mini.
Have been wondering whether to buy the COTD iPad Mini 3 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/207131 or wait to see if there are better deals closer to Christmas. Or do I buy an iPad Mini 2 - and if so are there any suggestions on where to get one for a good price?

Yes it does appear very similar. If I can get an iPad Mini 2 cheaper that would great.
All specs are the same. Chip speed, RAm, size, etc.
Touch ID is literally the ONLY difference (except for price of course).
while the Mini 2 is no different to the mini 3 the price of catch is really cheap. i cant find significantly cheaper ipad mini 2 or 3 brand new anywhere.
if i didn't hate apple and wanted an ipad mini id buy it myself.

The rumour is that the ipad mini 4 will be released in September. There were a number of good deals around for the ipad mini 2, e.g. COTD, but these seem to have dried up. Personally I like my ipad mini 2, but I will be interested in the specs for the ipad mini 4 when they come out. I agree the ipad Mini 3 is not worth purchasing.
I'm still having trouble finding any good deals on the mini 2. It seems like this COTD deal is a slightly better price than the 16GB mini 2.
I just don't know whether to hold off and see if there are deals on the mini 2 32GB which I think may be better in the long run. Surely there would be some sort of deal before Christmas?
As for the iPod touch - I can't find anything thing at all.
No difference between iPad Mini 2 and 3 except for touch ID. You will most likely find the iPad Mini 2 cheaper.
