If you really need batteries, buy 4 lots, use code 25CART and it comes to $127.68, or $31.92 each

      good tip!

unfortunately the balance on my Dan Murphy's gift card only extends so far :( :p

    • Its cheaper to buy one pack and buy LSD batteries from hobbyking.com.

    • "…buy 4 lots"

But then you end up with 4 chargers. Better to wait until the next time you can get packs of 8 AAs or 8 AAAs for $15 and then buy up a few.

4 chargers charge up twice as fast :p

        • Chuckle ;P

Instead of getting 24 AAs, 16 AAAs, some C and D adapters and 4 no-so-smart chargers with $128, I'd rather spend $90 on 24 AAs and 24 AAAs, and use the remaining $38 for a nice 'smarter' charger (and maybe a couple of C and D adapters if there was any dosh left over).

  • how are white batteries different to the color tropico and chocolates eneloop?

    • +1

They are the same capacities, the colour is just cosmetic.

based on previous discussions, i get the impression there isn't a difference in the battery internals.

according to Amar89, only the Rouge ones are made in Japan

      • +2

Indeed they are. Dicksmith are still clearing them out for $20ea. I've picked up three Rouge 8 Packs; all Sanyo-branded and made in Japan.

I'm sure they will be superseded by some Chinese Panasonic Rouges soon enough but for now it looks like the remaining stock at DSE branches nationwide is all Sanyo Rouge Eneloops.

I saw a chilling documentary the other week, saying that we are perilously close to approaching "peak eneloop", and it warned of the catastrophic results from such a previously unheard of scenario

  • It's been this price before and I'm sure it will be again.
