Stepdown Convertor Blows Steam and Ejects Pus-Like Fluid

So I was using a stepdown convertor with an American console and the console suddenly shuts off. A few seconds later, steam comes out like a kettle from the sides of the convertor (even though it's fused shut), and another few seconds later, yellowish liquid comes out the same way. I gingerly touched it and it may or may not be hot. There was definitely an unpleasant smell though. Oh and my eyes went a bit watery like I chopped an onion, am I going to die from poisoning? I haven't tested it post-broke but I'm guessing it broke. Thankfully, the console was fine. I'm in the market for a new stepdown convertor though.

Explain the science please.

It's simple. The magic smoke has been released, along with some ectoplasm.

I definitely think you should see a doctor.

Yellowish liquid? sounds like it might have been either molten plastic or could also be electrolyte from exploded capacitors.

  • Make sure to replace smoke and yellow fluid before use.

Yup, letting the smoke out of something is usually a sign of the soul departing the body. Irrigating your eyes is always a good thing to do if you think they have been contaminated, and seeing a doctor if you are worried. Also do not touch the unknown substance oozing from the corpse.

    Dear DeceasedDeafMutePretender,

Via a sanctioned wormhole proxy, you have successfully posted from the OzBargain Afterlife. More life there than in the current 'Choice Cheapies' 'Live' feed, I am guessing.

Be wary of and avoid all Brodens + any Mods with horns.

Sorry, DDMP, other potential step-downsides afoot.

Generally: In your non-corporeal state, pricematching stuff at Officeworks will be a bit difficult from now on.

Specifically: If you have been shockingly bad, your shopping options may begin - and end - in plaintive window-shopping at the Harvey Norman in Hell.
