Please Help Me Find a Decent TV for Fathers Day! (TV Experts)

I been desperately looking on eBay with the new coupon code in hopes to purchasing a decent TV for my dad. The ones I been looking at are

the 4k 200hz

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-UA55JU7000W-55-140cm-UHD-…

and the 1080p OLED

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-55EC930T-55-138cm-Curved-OLED-…

Could someone help me out and weigh up the pros and cons? my dad usually watches fast action movies so I am not sure if one or both of these TV's will have a noticable lag or stutter.

Or even recommend another TV which is on sale (around 2-2.5k)

Thanks everyone!

I am not an expert but I am also controlling myself for the impulse buys. From what I read, I think you should check Samsung UA65JU6600W 65" Curved Ultra HD LED-LCD Smart TV deal

    • Thanks for the reply! I saw that one but it only has a 100hz refresh rate so i'm guessing there will be quite a lot of stutter

      • IMHO if he is older gent like me, the screen size and quality might be the concern as older people are not gamers.

My dad is one of the few who likes to game :P He mentioned to me that refresh rate was quite important to him awhile ago. Which is why I went for those two choices

        • @halfaznpersuasion: Now I understand your concerns :-)

        • @halfaznpersuasion:

Before you criticize 100hz, check it out in person. 200hz is all smooth and lovely until 1000hz comes onto the market. All of a sudden 200hz sucks!

        • @aoeueoa: I'll wait till a few more fathers days for that :P

  • Depends on how close he want to sit to the TV. Cramming more pixels into the same area will only be of benefit if you are very close to the TV

I would personally be going with a OLED 1080p, which one? I dont know :)

    • That's what they said about phone screens with the theoretical maximum being 300ppi/dpi. And man the current phone screens with their 500+ppi just look freakin amazing. You CAN discern the difference in overall clarity but you can't discern individual pixels no.

  • Thanks guys ended up purchasing http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141657706222?_trksid=p2060353.m14… seems like a solid tv!
