  • It's pretty good deal for this TV, searched online cheapest I found was around $3500.

OP, you might add $59 for delivery, I'm assuming not everyone like me will able to pick it up in store.

    Thanks OP.

Just remember this TV only has a 100Hz refresh rate. Most 4k TVs are moving to 200Hz as it has better image retention and less ghosting especially on LCD panels driving these high resolution displays. Still don't see the point of a curved display, seems to just command a premium over the standard shape though.

      • +1

I've got a curved display for my desk and like it but I really agree, for a TV it just doesn't make sense.

        • +1

Yep, curved displays are only suitable for a single viewer.

        • @Major Mess:
I disagree. At a massive 65" you are not restricted to a single viewer.

    • Has anybody bought in a physical JB HIFI store ?

      • yes i have no issues is rather go to the store its self

    • Thanks to TRENT86.

I rushed to Doncaster JB HIFI and took one. Used up all my JB Hifi GC, plus some cash.

      It is a good deal

  • omg, thanksTRENT86. waitting for this so long, only one thing im worry now is the lady i share the bed with :(

    • +52

If your bed is big enough all three should fit… Just.

      • +1

        Pobman knows the score.

      • +3

And remember … once you press the power button only one of your two bed mates will get turned on :)

      • "We're gonna need a bigger bed…"

        • "You're gonna need a bigger bed…."

    • +13

Will she be jealous of the curves?

  • +1

Great price, but curved what a silly idea??

    • +3

Idunno if I'd call it silly, but certainly to me I'd much prefer a flat screen. Do people not mount TVs on walls any more?

    • I was very cynical at first of curved screens and thought it as just a marketing gimmick. My recommendation would be to look at same spec'd screens side by side - one flat, one curved. I ended up going with the curved and love my decision. Different formats, technologies, brands etc will always have their promoters and detractors so it will always come down to personal choice. Definitely not silly though.

      • +1

Kinda like 3D imo.. Marketing wank. But each to their own!

        • +2

3D is dependent on the source, whereas curved screens are independent. Meaning you can "enjoy" (or "hate") your curved screen for everything you watch. Unlike 3D, where you rely on the content being in 3D to get any benefit.

        • @Marty131:

3D is dependent on the source

Not necessarily, my old Samsung could convert 2D to 3D.. although its not the same.

      • I have had salesmen at different stores tell me that curved is crap and a gimmick and you end up with glare on the screen unless you sit directly in front of it. I would rather a flat screen to mount on wall anyway, anyone know of good slim brackets for TV's 65"+ though, most are for 55" or less?

    • Have tried looking at a demo set in JB? It really sucks you into the tv and the feeling is quite unique. It feels like it is made for our peripheral vision. However the caveat is that the effect is only obvious when you are staring at a big screen up close (maybe 3m). I think any curved tv less than 50" does not give that much of a satisfaction.

  • omfg, I just purchased the 55" curved for $2400, would of chose to pay a bit more for this instead!

    • suxs to be you bro! try return the 55"?

      • Bing Lee has no chance of mind return policy :(

      • +2

Actually nvm, I just realised I purchased the 7 Series and not the 6 Series like this one. 7 Series have 200mhz refresh rate instead of the 100. So not spewing so much considering that.

        • +3

You mean 200hz…not 200 megahertz which means the tv is flicking at 200 million times a second.

        • @KaTst3R: and here we have the NEXT gimmick…. Mhz refresh rates!

    • I just asked a jbhifi rep and he told me that the one you bought has 3D feature and a separate connector box. Also, it's 55" with 4K resolution, so it has more ppi than the 65", and it's suitable for a small living room.

      • yeah I realised. feel a lot better now :)

  • +10

Yeah, I'm also not sold on the curved idea. IMO very stupid concept.

    • +4

yeah same, if this was a flat screen I would of snatched it up in a second

    • How about curving it the other way so you can put the TV in the middle of the room and watch from any angle?

      • Impossible unless your eyes are curved too…..

        • +2

          i think most people's eyes are curved…

  • Not a TV but I bought the 34" Samsung Curved Monitor at the start of the year, very exp at like $1500. But it was a great buy. I thought curved was BS but it makes a big difference in less eye strain and is much easier to work with. Only problem I read with the curved TV's is there is more glare though. Seriously considering this though. Do you recon HN would match this price?

    • Worth a try if you want to get if from there

  • +2

I bought this samsung curved TV the viewing angel is bad. I then got a flat screen instead.

  • +4

    real TV's have curves…

  • +3

Curved is probably fractionally better if you are sitting right in the middle of the viewing space, but if you ever have people watching with you, what about them? Flat for me thanks.

    • +1

It is better for monitors but I agree it is dumb for TV, although I do think people overestimate how curved the curve actually is.

  • Are there any expert reviews comparing the curved TV's to the flat ones?

I'm not convinced there are any benefits to getting a curved TV.

  • Great price, great TV. Bought one during previous sale for $2,996 about 2 months ago. I wasn't convinced about the curved screen but the price was just too good to resist when you compare it to other Samsung around this price point.
By the way, the curved screen has a feature that the flat screen doesn't have. It's called "Auto Depth Enhanceer" - which according to their website:
"By enhancing contrast between objects, images on Samsung curved TV models can appear dynamic and immersive."
Me and my wife find this somewhat true in a way that it makes the picture more 3D especially when watching 4K and 1080p to certain extend.

  • Holly crap, good deal.

More a comment on how low TVs have gone but still!

  • +4

I really want the flat model…..do you think I could get this one and flatten it out by putting it in a bookcase or something?

    • +3

you need to run it over with your car

  • what happened to the UE wireless speaker deal ??
    Anyone ?? Thanks

  • Food for thought:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-65UF950T-65-inch-Prime-4K-UHD-…

    Price after CTREAT20 is $2,968.95

    • +3

Not that any ozbargainer would blindly buy this, but do note that it is refurbished

  • Does this tv have 4k HDR? If not than its average at best!

  • Don't really need curves, think people would prefer to save a fraction of the costs to have a non curved television but with everything else the same, to me it's just something fancy, no real uses.

  • If only this wasn't curved. If you had a dedicated TV room maybe a huge curved TV would suit, but in a common area it just looks silly imo.

  • +1

The previous model (which I have) was on sale for $3696 so getting the newer model for this price is a steal.

You don't notice the curve after a few days - even though it is 4K the best thing about these TVs are their upscaling ability - SD / HD and Blu Ray look really really good.

  • Trent the TV man strikes again

  • -1

Yeah but fast moving sports\action looks terrible!

  • Great price indeed, thanks Trent.. As mentioned previously, prices have gone up significantly since last year, hopefully come boxing day there's guna be great deals on 65" goodness. Based on my assumption that sales will have slowed this year.

  • Can we price match it in David Jones or Dicksmith?

    • Ring them to find out b

  • Checked on various store & websites. Can't beat this price.

  • Pretty decent price…but even if we paid close to full price, still only 100Hz refresh rate? Bah.. Even LG are offering quality panels at a cheaper price (curved or not) with 200Hz.

  • +1
  • bought a phillips led 3d 800HZ whopping 65 inch smart tv 2,299.00 rio sound&vision

    • +1

Philips Full HD vs Samsung 4K, hence the price difference.
IMHO, anything above 55" is best enjoyed with 4K.

  • 800HZ refresh rate competes with 4k gr8 picture quality

    • +1

      It's not really 800HZ - more than likely 200HZ x 4.

And no - 800HZ doesn't compete with 4k. One is a claimed refresh rate the other is resolution.

  • Great deal … but I also would prefer a flat version. My Tv is wall mounted and I can't imagine that a curved TV would look any good on the wall (as it sticks out too much and sits not flat on the wall). Not sure. Does anyone wall mount a curved TV?

    • +1

      Only on a curved wall…

      • The JbHiFi Ad says "wall mountable" … so some people must do this :-). Ah well … lets just buy it and find a house with a curved wall … ;-)

  • I know this is a thread for a $2k plus TV , but I'm going to start looking for a 40-50 inch TV for my mum soon with smart features built in.

Has anyone got any research from recent times you want to share with me?

Looking to spend $500-$1400 on a decent TV for my mum who will probably just watch free to air and I will install Netflix and let her use my account. Maybe the occasional DVD . No external speakers.. so decent in built speakers would be nice but If there's a deal, im sure she would appreciate a sound system plugged in.

      $1396 + cash rewards 2.5% :)

      • -1

Thanks dude! My mum might be daunted by a 55" TV but she deserves to watch movies in full glory !

    • I was in a similar situation recently. We ended up getting a 50' Hisense TV. I think the model is 50k390pad. It was $1000 originally but we were lucky and bought a display model for $600 at jb.

Really happy with the quality of it and it has inbuilt speakers. It has 3 years warranty too which other brands don't offer.

  • +1

u know what else is smart, curved and 6.5" ;)

    • +1

      Clever dick

  • Seriously what's the point of curved screen? Money making gimmick I presume?

    • I don't know either, but whatever benefit the curved display comes with, it's only good if you are a single occupant of your home, because the viewing angle is only ideal to the person seated dead center. Anyone viewing from a side angle is going to get a worse view of the screen.

  • For those who have this TV, can I ask the power usage of this screen? Can's seem to get an answer anywhere on researching.

Just wondering if I should ditch my 50" Panasonic plasma FHD

    Cheers.

NVM - found answer on HN ad - approx 400W

  • Thanks Trent. Parents grabbed one from Camberwell, Vic. They had 2-3 in stock last night.

They were pretty indifferent with the curved feature, it really boils down to personal preference. There isn't THAT much of a curve so it's not like you can't see the screen if you're not sitting directly in the middle.

  • +1

Thanks for this post. I took one in Sydney City JB HIFI. $3000 include 3 years extended warranty (expire on 27/08/2020) and delivery.

    • Wouldn't that be 4 years extended warranty, I think they only have a 12 month warranty with Samsung?

      • Yes totally 5 years warranty. The statement on the paper says 3 years extended.

  • +3

Thanks for post. Just picked it up at Macquarie NSW for $2500 delivered.

    • $2500? damn… post receipt for match plz?

    • Yeah I'd be keen for a receipt for match aswell

    • Please kindly share your receipt

        • Thank you so much to you and all the ozbargain fellow (Salute!)
          Save me $350 for this

        • Thanks so much for this, hope they match it tomorrow. Did you have to do much haggling?

        • How many gift cards did you pay with?

          I'm going to guess 25 :)

does that cause any issues at the store?

        • +1

          @chill:

Yeah I paid most of it with giftcards because I got 5% off the giftcards through my work. They had no issue just took a little while at the register and a long receipt.
